The Psychology of any given Society is both revealed, and perpetuated, in how that Society treats it's children, and it's most vulnerable people... address that and you can change the whole society. Failure to address it ensures it's continuation.

Thank you "oldboreen" ... I have indeed come forward, reported, published, blogged and 16 years ago asked for help from my diocese with therapy. Still asking. Still waiting. Now there is a "process" in place so they tell me. My mother and father, also victims have come forward and reported...from their nursing home in Ireland. They asked for nothing in return. They received a rosary and an apology.

What are we doing JOHNTOBIN, trying to deflect one from the other.
Priests have been a party to procuring abortions too, by coercing the mother and paying for it too, to protect who?

'blessusnsaveus'you have my admiration for your courage in posting details of your terrible ordeal at the hands of a priest.
It will shock many, some will will refuse to believe it-claim that you are seeking attention-exaggerating.Don't be deterred. These evil men will rot in hell. I beg you to publish your claims, not easy for you to do I know, but it may compel certain bishops to examine their consciences rather more than appears to be be the case thus far!
God bless you. London UK

Blood sacrifice
A priest gave me my first orgasm before I was old enough to know my body
A priest tore my vagina with his fingers preparing me for planned penetration
A priest gave me fifty years of recurrent nightmares
A priest ripped my faith from my heart and peace from my mind
This behavior was criminal - physically and spiritually
And I am still treated for Post Traumatic Stress disorder, like a victim of war
My mind is still tortured; my faith is in shreds; my hope has been stolen.
And the bishops knew.
So don't tell me it is just about individual criminals. An organisation payed and supported these men. An organisation covered up their behavior and sent them to new pastures to graze on the young. An organisation threatened and intimidated and controlled those who tried to speak out. That organisation shares responsibility like a government who looks away when its soldiers torture and rape innocent victims in war.

Knew you wouldn't be pleased with he finding Trealach, why haven't you spoken up as a concerned individual, a member of the society you make mention of, or taken out a public notice for instance codemming what s been done in your name as a Catholic:
It was torture of the worst kind worldwide, some as young as 4years old for Gods sake with rosaries hanging around necks.
You'd better take seriously intercessory prayer for the spirits of these young, in case you meet them in heaven one day.

"Some 84 percent of those surveyed in the poll felt that SOCIETY should have done more to PREVENT the abuse." And therein lies the problem. Society and the Government, are EQUALLY as guilty as the Paedophile Priests.

From a personal point of view, I dont think there is any real surprise in this report. Some people would do well to remember that torture can take many different forms. Torture of the body; but what of torture of the mind - a survivor of abuse so broken in mind body and soul that sooner or later they cannot live with what happened to them and they are driven to take their own lives. I feel genuinely sorry for those posters who are so impervious to this human experience, through conditioning. You are victims in this also!!

Absolute power corrupts absolutly! This is the kind of situation that makes regulations and inspections essential when a powerful entity, governmental, commercial or religous, has a vested interest in keeping its human abuses in the dark. While there are priests and nuns who are very good people, being a priest or a nun does not automatically guarantee a person's goodness. The only way to protect against further abuse is regulation and inspection of the RCC in its dealing with parishiners of all ages by the government and the church's laity.

All child abuse is torture. Yes, Amnesty is a joke - it should also have mentioned the abuse of children in Ireland by members of the community at large; it is still going on behind closed family doors, rarely getting noticed except by a few professionals who deal with children "disturbed" by it and hardly ever made public in the Courts of Justice.

I imagine the Pope will say I had nothing to do with this and call it a day. This treatment of children is a really bad thing. I wonder how this will affect the trial of the pope and his commisares in the international court.

Porickseantuny have you actually read any of the reports? Kids were routinely kept hungry and undernourished, and yes kids were routinely flogged and sexually abused. What would you call rape? You don't know whats in those reports mentioned do you?
