Advocates say they hope Dobbs meets the same fate as Tancredo in 2008

America's Voice has urged Lou Dobbs to run for President.

That's right! America's Voice, the immigration advocacy group is backing Dobbs "the immigration propagandist" for President.

Frank Sharry, executive director, says Dobbs should meet a fitting fate.

“I so hope that Lou Dobbs runs for President. Because if he does, he will undoubtedly follow in the footsteps of other nativist candidates who ran for President," said Sharry.

"First, there was Pat Buchanan, who won less than 1 percent of the popular vote in 2000. Then there was Tom Tancredo, who was trounced in the Republican primaries in 2008. My guess is that Dobbs will do slightly worse than his two trailblazing buddies.”

Sharry was speaking after reports surfaced that former CNN anchor Lou Dobbs was planning a run for president?

Yes, apparently Dobbs is "reaching out" to Latino groups to try and get their support for a possible 2012 presidential run.

As you can imagine, the idea is meeting with well, howls of laughter.

"I'm reaching out to Latino groups...all the people whom I have been in an ongoing debate, to try to...find solutions," Dobbs told WTOP radio in Washington.

But Dobbs' views on immigration have so alienated us immigrants that he's going to find it a very tough sell.

Lisa Navarrette, vice president of La Raza, a consistent target of Dobbs' attacks laughed off the idea of Dobbs for President.

"All we can say is “Buena suerte with that, Lou',” she said.

And speaking of Lou Dobbs, America's Voice has also released a special Thanksgiving e-card celebrating the fact that his resignation means there's "one less turkey on the airwaves."

I think he should run for the Presidency. While almost all the canidates that have run in the past were tied to the policies of the party they came out of, Lou Dobbs is tied to the good of the people of the United States. And we know a good deal about him.. what his views are.. and he engenders a great deal of trust. Nativist President? Holy Cow.. you upped his rating by a very significant amount. Thank you.

Because we need to give all of these ILLEGALS medical care. Look at California. They are BANKRUPT because of ILLEGALS. BRING IT ON. All of the middle class working Americans who still are unemployed and pissed off want an alternative to Obama. Obama is no different than the rest. He is bound to his party. The party of slackers. Why are you on the site then marrsnyc if you don't care what people here think? Also was anyone questioning that this country is America? weird beginning to your post. Democrats and Republicans are also concerned with immigration and how can a country full of immigrants or their ancestors be overrun with immigrants? Are you Native American? And some of those in the same grouping as you are racists, maybe not you, maybe not the majority, but some are and no-one has characterised the whole movement as racist. Also good luck voting for another overly priviliged white man - good break with the broken system (all the sarcasm I an muster is intended for the previous statement).

Hey this is America! We don't care what the IrishCentral thinks about our Immigration. I for one WILL vote for Lou Dobbs. We have an over run country with immigration, we have no jobs, and we need a canidate for the working class American. So call Lou what you want, but there are many Americans that share his sentiment. We are not racists. We are Americans who care about our broken system and want it fixed. The Republicans and Democrats had their chance. Now we want an INDEPENDENT. For the people and NOT for the corporate interests.
