After briefly flirting with the idea of a mayoral run himself, Alec Baldwin has slammed the leading Democratic candidate Christine Quinn.

In a Huffington Post blog, Baldwin blankly states that the current front-runner City Council Speaker Christine Quinn, "is not qualified to be mayor of New York."

Quinn, an Irish American whose Irish Grandmother was a Titanic survivor, announced her intention to run for mayor last week.

Baldwin argues that the city needs a mayor with “middle class values,” saying Public Advocate Bill de Blasio is that person.

Describing the Speaker as "Bloomberg's handmaiden" and "Bloomberg 2.0," the former "30 Rock" star criticized Quinn’s opposition to a sick-leave bill, which would require New York City businesses with 5 to 19 employees to offer paid sick leave.

He also criticized her close alliance to police commissioner Ray Kelly.

“Quinn is married to her partner, Kim Catullo, yet appears to bat her eyelashes for one man, Ray Kelly, New York's police commissioner.”

““Stop and Frisk" may be effective anti-crime policy, but it is also anti-U.S. Constitution to a lot of rather vocal political figures in the City and beyond. Quinn appears not to care,” he added.

Referring to a Village Voice report, Baldwin accused Quinn of having a $49 million City Council "slush fund" that she distributes to members.

The Irish American actor slammed the New York Times photo coverage of her official campaign announcement on March 11th as a “a proud parent's album.”

He concluded saying he would elaborate on his endorsement of Democratic contender Bill de Blasio in a future blog.

Meanspirited Baldwin is jealous because Quinn is more popular the he. I wonder does he still calling his daughter a pig. Some mayor wannabe he is.
french-scot baldwin is an annoying human his facial mannerisms is like one's behind after a good one.
What a bigoted pig. For Baldwin to refer to Quinn's sexual orientation and life style to make a crude point, and ironically a very sexist, retrograde point at that (a woman "batting her eyelashes"? - give me a break), is inappropriate and unacceptable. But it sure does reveal his true sentiments on gay marriage and total lack of respect for other people's personal relationships. Maybe Alec "shouldn't worry his pretty little head" about Christine's lifestyle (that's another phrase from the 19th Century that a Neanderthal like him can probably understand).
What a hoot! As if qualifications had anything to do with this publicity grab!
NYC police used to be better. I know that some police departments don't hire the smartest applicants. It's showing up in a way that's produced more than a few reckless, careless, overly aggressive racists. There are still some police departments that don't discriminate against the more intelligent candidates. I don't know about New York. They sure manage to have many incidents where suspects are so riddled with bullets that it makes one wonder.
Chrissie is a "lipstick lesbian". She is "batting her eyes at Ray so that she can "seduce and abandon" and bring in her own version of reality to a volatile city. As a liberal con, she is against most of what Ray is for and fears that he will run as a registered independent.
Baldwin may be a long way from "middle-class" vlaues now, but perhaps remembers them from his early days, before stardom...
I don't know anything about whether she is qualified or not but to hear Baldwin, who considered running himself, say it should be someone with "middle class values" is a laugh. Does he believe he has those values ?
