During an interview on CNN’s ‘Piers Morgan Tonight,’ Billy Baldwin explained how he believes his older brother Alec Baldwin is serious about possibly joining in on the NYC mayoral race. The younger Baldwin dismissed Alec’s “flirtation” with the mayoral role of NYC as “just for show.”

“I think he's very committed and extremely bright and knowledgeable and I think he could do it and he could run,” Billy Baldwin told Piers Morgan.

However, Billy did also note that, “On the other hand, I'm not quite sure if he's cut from the proper cloth because it requires a lot of tolerance and a lot of patience.”

Alec Baldwin has been making tabloid headlines lately following run-ins with the paparazzi, of whom he is vocally not supportive. Just prior to his wedding to 28-year-old Hilaria Thomas, Baldwin was accused of punching a paparazzo in the face who was waiting for Baldwin after he picked up his marriage license.

Baldwin claims the punch didn’t occur, but a scuffle between him and the photographer were documented in well-publicized photographs.

Late last year, Baldwin was kicked off a flight for reportedly fighting with a flight-attendant after he refused to switch off his mobile device prior to takeoff. That story also quickly made the rounds in tabloid and celebrity gossip magazines.

After Harvey Levin, founder of celebrity gossip company TMZ, exposed a voicemail in which Baldwin called his then 11-year-old daughter a “rude thoughtless little pig,” Baldwin said to Vanity Fair that, “I wanted to stick a knife in him and gut him and kill him and I wanted him to die breathing his last breath looking into my eyes.”

Younger brother Billy Baldwin did draw some hefty comparisons between Alec and other political greats while talking with Piers Morgan: “Let me remind you that John McCain and Rudy Giuliani are quite the same [as Alec].They are very successful and highly effective politicians.”

Speaking with Vanity Fair the week before his recent wedding to Hilaria Thomas, Alec Baldwin discussed his possible political aspirations. “I think I do want to go into politics. I really, really do. And I don’t know if I will. If I want to run, run for what? You have to stop and ask a lot of whys. Run for the glory? Run to complete some missing piece of myself? I can keep doing what I’m doing for a living now and be perfectly happy.”

He did, however, add that he’s well aware of his anger issues in the Vanity Fair chat. “You have to let that go,” he said. “Enough time - I mean, it does heal wounds.”
