Prior to his death, al-Qaeda ring-leader Osama bin Laden was urged by Adam Gadahn, the American al-Qaeda spokesman, to consider reaching out to the Irish population in hopes of getting them to convert to Islam.
The Irish population’s disenchantment with the Catholic Church and disheartening economic state were cited as reasons why the people of Ireland could be open to conversion.
The Irish Times reports on the documents found at bin Laden’s house in Abbottabad, Pakistan during a raid in which he was killed by a team of US Navy SEALs last May. The newly declassified documents were posted online by The Combating Terrorism Center, a privately funded research base at West Point.
The cache of informative documents, 175 pages in Arabic and 195 in translated English, span from September 2006 to April 2011. They include private letters between prominent al-Qaeda members including bin Laden.
Included in the documents is a January 2011 letter from American al-Qaeda spokesperson Adam Gadahn to an unknown recipient which lays out reasons for reaching out to the Irish people.
In the letter, Gadahn writes that Ireland did not participate in “Bush’s crusade wars,” making them prime candidates for the support of Islam. Gadahn added how the Irish Judicial System was “soft” on Muslims accused on terrorism, and sympathetic with the Palestinian cause.
The letter does, however, also note that Ireland had been part of an EU-wide force engaged in training the Somali army.
The difficulties in Ireland at the time the letter was written apparently paved the way for Islam to take a stand in the country as well. At the time, and still today, Ireland was in the midst of child-abuse scandal in the Church, and was reeling economically.
"What helped to prepare the message was the last economic crisis that affected Ireland a lot, thus forcing its youth to look for sources of living in the outside," wrote Gadahn in his letter.
"The other matter is the increasing anger in Ireland towards the Catholic Church after exposing a number of sex scandals and others," he added.
The letter also goes on to say that the Irish, "who were the most religious of atheist Europe," were heading towards secularism. “Why do we not face them with Islam?,” wrote Gadahn.
Gadahn also suggested reaching out to Catholics living in Arab regions to embrace Islam.
“Catholics were historically the prominent enemies of the Jews, amongst the other Christians.
They were also the original enemies to the Evangelist Protestant who were the vanguard of the Crusades.”
“Their public in general, these days, is more sympathetic and understanding of the Muslims, than other Protestant and Orthodox Christians," Gadahn wrote.

Maybe you should give the Jameson's a rest Eamonn me old Chara.

I once saw a dog chewing on an old bone, and when it stood up it fell over. (The old ones are the best).

You're like a dog chewing on an old bone

SEanOPalestine, I don't have a sense of humour! How many times! Éamonn, Dublin, Ireland.
seanomelb | May 19, 2012, 07:17 PM EDT
Eamonn I most times found your comments funny.Unfortunately you missed the humour in my comments(except for the Palestinian comments no humour intended there)
EamonnDublin | May 19, 2012, 04:17 AM EDT
"SeanoBoonie" - Delighted to see that you find my comments funnier than ever. I have already noticed that the more I got it right, the more vitriolic you became in opposition. As Peter Lalor might have put it at the Eureka Stockade, "He who speaks the truth is stabbed in the back - a thousand stabs equals a thousand truths". Éamonn, Dublin, Ireland.
seanomelb | May 18, 2012, 07:36 PM EDT
Eamonn I'm disappointed you're loosing that witty edge I admire.
EamonnDublin | May 18, 2012, 04:34 AM EDT
SeanoBoonie - I did not give "excuses". I simply showed you where you were wrong. As Cassius Clay put it: "To admit one is wrong is the mark of a man; men who can't admit wrong rub on the fake tan". Sean, you'll have already run out of the bronzer I suppose? They sell it in Brown Thomas - shall I send you some? Éamonn, Dublin, Ireland.
seanomelb | May 17, 2012, 06:50 PM EDT
Eamonn of Dublin/London you are living proof of a doppelganger the ghostly appearance of a living person with more excuses than a condemned villain.
EamonnDublin | May 17, 2012, 03:48 AM EDT
"Seanomelb" Number 1. Wrong. I did not say I spent most of my life in London. I went to Leeds when I was 15 years old, spent just 21 years there, and returned to Dublin in 1979 and I have lived in Dublin, where I was born, ever since. Got it now? Number 2. I am not confused between "Islam" and "Islamism" - there is a very big difference and I have explained this difference to you on various posts. Number 3. "You made me lose (not "loose") my temper" was said by me very obviously in jest as anybody reading the post could also see. You say it is easy to challenge my opinions. It is obviously NOT easy, because all you do is twist what I have said in order that you can answer what I have NOT said. If it were easy to challenge my opinions, you would simply challenge my opinions, as I have stated them. Do you just scour the posts in order to see what you can twist around so that you can try to make people look as stupid as yourself? As Charles Dickens would have said "Twist, twist, and twist once more, so you can walk through a different door". Éamonn, Dublin, Ireland. I DESPISE ISLAMISM.
seanomelb | May 16, 2012, 07:13 PM EDT
Eamonn was it a mistake or a Freudian slip? just asking. BTW on another post you claim you spent most of your life in London, should you sign off Eamonn Dublin/London..How can I take your replies as honest when you make statements like "I never loose my temper" "you made me loose my temper" your confused between Islam and the demeaning made-up word "Islamism" I just do not know which of your replies are true and which are false at the end of the day you are entitled to your passive aggressive opinions and I have the right to challenge them(not that it's difficult to do so).
EamonnDublin | May 16, 2012, 02:03 PM EDT
"SirPeter", Thank you. I should mention that I have responded to you on another post on the same subject and I think I may have reacted a little quickly as your post there is a bit different to this one. I have, in many posts, given the difference between Islam and Islamism. Perhaps you didn't see these posts? They were mainly in response to "Seanomelb" who, despite my trying to answer every question and accusation he comes up with, he never accepts my answer as standing squarely on its own two feet, but just goes off at another tangent. It is truly childish. Anyway, I think you and I have cleared the air somewhat. Nice one! Éamonn, Dublin, Ireland.
ciaradexy | May 16, 2012, 11:28 AM EDT
And sean, there are no bedsits in Tallaght. Just thought you should know.
ciaradexy | May 16, 2012, 11:28 AM EDT
Seanomelb, Im from Tallaght.Remember youre in Oz longer than you were ever in Ireland so dont start pretending you know anything about Tallaght these days. Im sure you wont have an issue with it when youre cheering for Robbie keane next month.
sirpeter | May 16, 2012, 10:26 AM EDT
Eamo OK.That makes a big difference. Now that I know you can see the difference between Islam and Islamism Most people misunderstand there is a difference and Islamism is a controversial term in itself.I wasn't sure were you just a run of the mill Muslim hater or not, which is why I continued to poke you a bit.Innocent Muslims are dying by the million in this fabricated "War on Terror"We Irishmen could very well be a victim of this "War on Terror" if Ireland happened to be positioned in the middle east next to vast reserved of oil.I don't support American foreign policy in the middle east and their 737 military bases in foreign countries.Extracting the resources while the people are forced to live in extreme poverty by American supported puppet governments.I don't support land grabbing Israelis either. For an Irishman it should be/is hard for me to support Imperialism in any way, shape or form.
EamonnDublin | May 16, 2012, 05:10 AM EDT
"Seanomelb" - I am NOT from Tallaght, therefore your post falls flat on its face. Your comment was clearly formulated to try to insult me by suggesting that I am from Tallaght. Tallaght is actually a very nice area with lovely views of the Dublin mountains, and it is inhabited by very nice people. It just so happens that I am not from there. Éamonn, Dublin, Ireland.
EamonnDublin | May 16, 2012, 05:02 AM EDT
SirPeter, Yes, I have looked and I freely admit to my mistake of using the word "Islam" where I meant "Islamism". I also admit that it is a very serious mistake. However, anybody following these posts, such as you, "Sir Peter", would know that on every other occasion I have used the word "Islamism" - and that, therefore, my use of "Islam" was clearly by mistake. I apologise to Islam ad its followers, with which and whom I have no argument. Éamonn, Dublin, Ireland. I DESPISE ISLAMISM.
seanomelb | May 15, 2012, 07:57 PM EDT
Eamonn my boy!! just to set the record straight I did not insult the good people of Tallaght I was afraid they might be insulted by your presence. You obviously cannot comprehend the written word I never defended Georgy boy. I referred to your response to sirpeter of Cork, you're loosing it my boy!! You need to constantly post Eamonn Dublin to remind yourself as to whom you are, early stages of Alzheimer's maybe.
sirpeter | May 15, 2012, 06:25 PM EDT
Eamo. You drew my attention by shouting.Quote"I SERIOUSLY DESPISE ISLAM.Unquote.You just insulted a billion Muslims. If I was Muslim I could be very insulted. If you are going to make sweeping statements like that you are going to get abuse back. That's fair isn't it?A yes or no answer will do.By the way George Dillon is an American hybrid idiot boy.Very few would disagree with me on that.
EamonnDublin | May 15, 2012, 02:01 PM EDT
"SirPeter" - I just had a random look to see what I could quote from your own posts, and I found some lovely ones. I also noticed the same old names who constantly attack me (Seanomelb, ByTheBay, etc) have been around for a long time, with the same ranting accusations to others ("liar", "idiot", etc). I realise even moreso now, that I am totally wasting my time on here, because you and the above named are not actually here to make a valid point, you are here only to berate, insult, accuse and try to belittle other posters. For the record, here are just a few, randomly selected, posts of your own - and there are PLENTY more where they come from, but I will not waste further time on them. 1) Describing your posts to the readers, you stated "It's like teaching remedial class" (Jan 4 2012, 4.30pm). 2) On Dec. 30th 2011 at 10.25pm, you stated that, apart from Ireland, "the rest of Europe are bloodthirsty savages. The Anglo Saxon German Brits always happy to kill children". 3) On Nov. 29th 2011 at 2.35pm, you describe George Dillon as "an American hybrid idiot boy". 4) Your complete post of March 8th 2011 at 2.35pm, attacking George Dillon,is a living testimony to your own sad shortcomings, with insult after insult, ad nauseam. As I say, these are just a few, at random. What an awful, tortured, pathetic mind you must have. Éamonn, Dublin, Ireland.
EamonnDublin | May 15, 2012, 11:29 AM EDT
"SirPeter", Now would you like to have a read and remind yourself of what "Seanomelb" said to me? And then have a read of some of my postings in order to realise that I often TRY to be a little humourous (wittily, ironically, incongruously so). Unfortunately, Seanomelb twists almost everything I say and then answers his twisted version. I see you couldn't come up with any punctuation or grammar errors on my part - your excuse being that you "don't do" such correcting. But you saw fit and had the time to try to attack me on every other front. I don't know why I even TRY to reason with some of you people, I have far better things to be doing (Thank God) and I respond against my better judgement which tells me to leave you to it. Your last comment, about me using my name and where I'm from being a "mental issue" is a sad let down from your high horse - but you just couldn't resist the parting snipe, could you? If indeed I HAVE a "mental issue", would that make you feel better? Do you go around asking people if they are "disabled" or "mental" in your ordinary life? Or is it just when you can hide behind an anonymous posting? When you see somebody in a wheelchair, do you sarcastically say "is it a disability issue?", or if you see a child with an obvious mental incapacity, do you say to the parent "has your child got mental issues"? Fortunately, I'm fine, Thank God, otherwise your comment could be upsetting. Éamonn, Dublin, Ireland.
sirpeter | May 15, 2012, 08:36 AM EDT
Sorry Éamonn I don't do punctuation and grammar correcting. But Éamonn irony means A/Witty language used to convey insults or scorn or B/Incongruity between what might be expected and what actually occurs.Eamonn you admit the context of your comment was A.(May 14, 2012, 04:14)But your scribblings didn't portray A.It just portrayed anger.Quote~~"NOW, GO AWAY,(Shouting) Seanie, you are nothing but a bloody childish, pestering, nasty minded, headbanging nuisance.(Insulting) There, now are you satisfied - you made me lose my temper with your silly little snipes (Anger)".Unquote.(May 12,2012,06:40)That just protrayed anger Éamonn. You have to watch where you use caps Eamo.Another thing Eamo.Whats all this Éamonn, Dublin,Ireland about in every comment? Can you stop doing it? Or is it a mental issue? ;))
EamonnDublin | May 15, 2012, 03:44 AM EDT
"George" - What on earth are you doing, man? Upsetting Ciara! She's like a dragon now! And ..... she's gone out looking for YOU! Run, George, RUN!!! Éamonn. (PS. Take care, Ciara - I believe he's on "Ireland's Most Wanted". Safe home!)
EamonnDublin | May 15, 2012, 03:38 AM EDT
"Seanomelb" - I actually considered my response to George to be quite good - and the bould George hasn't seen fit to respond to me. Are you his new minder?. As for your latest decision with regard to the area in which you would presume me to reside, well, no, actually, you're wrong again. Keep trying. BTW, may I ask why you see fit to attempt to insult the people of Tallaght? Anyway, I'm glad to see that you have conceded that I live in Ireland. Now, away with you and brush your teeth. Éamonn, Dublin, Ireland.
seanomelb | May 14, 2012, 07:25 PM EDT
It's about time you left that bedsitter you live in (Tallaght most likely) and view the great world we live in.Your demeaning narrow response to sirpeter goes to type. You're all bluster and no substance.BTW sirpeter I spent many summer holidays in Crosshaven much nicer than Sandymount which is probably the longest distance poor old Eamonn has ventured from his bedsitter in (Tallaght??)
seanomelb | May 14, 2012, 05:12 PM EDT
Hello, Sir Peter! And how are you today, Sor? Could you be doin' me a favour now Sor and show me where I have made some punctuation errors? As for my use of irony, Sor, your comment that irony necessitates the inclusion of wit or "tongue-in-cheek" simply indicates that you do not know the meaning of the word. Why am I "defending" the Israelis? I am not "defending" them- I am standing with them. They do not require any "defence" per se, apart from military defence against terrorists - and they don't need me for that! As for your comment that "all I have to say is about punctuation and grammar" - what, are you only reading those small bits of my posts? And here am I writing on all manner of things, with just ONE piece about punctuation and grammar thrown in. Oh, I just realised - what on earth would "a Corkman" know about punctuation and grammar anyhow? Now, THAT'S "irony"! Sleep well now, Sor! Éamonn, Dublin, Ireland.
sirpeter | May 14, 2012, 04:09 PM EDT
Eamonn. No biy. You're talkin' to a Corkman here lol.Well you said you lost your temper and that's not good. You're also using a lot of caps and you keep typing Éamonn,Dublin,Ireland.I think we all know you're from Dublin so that's a bit strange you keep doing that. You didn't do irony either because it wasn't witty or tongue-in-cheek.It was very direct, very American. Why are you defending the murdering land grabbing Israelis for?By the way. You're not great at the punctuation and grammar yourself. It's a sure sign that you are losing the argument when that's all you have to say.
EamonnDublin | May 14, 2012, 06:07 AM EDT
Come on Seanie - where the hell are you? I need a laugh! Éamonn, Dublin, Ireland. (Posters come and posters go, but Boonies go on for ever.)
EamonnDublin | May 14, 2012, 04:14 AM EDT
"Seanomelb" This is all so boringly childish. If you cannot see the humour in my post of May12th at 6.40pm, then I am afraid you are beyond salvation, humour-wise. Perhaps you have spent too long in The Boonies and are not used to human contact? Next insult, please! (Oh, BTW, one does not "loose" one's temper - one "loses" it! And you STILL are getting the capitalization wrong, and the punctuation is horrific and going downhill.) Éamonn, Dublin, Ireland. I STAND WITH ISRAEL. I DON'T REALLY GO FOR BOONIES.
seanomelb | May 13, 2012, 07:33 PM EDT
BTW which of the below statements is a lie and which is not. It must be painful sitting on "the lie-"no lie" fence.Just gotcha again well!! are you a liar???
seanomelb | May 13, 2012, 07:30 PM EDT
"I made you loose your temper"-"I never loose my temper" Your all over the shop you sad man.
EamonnDublin | May 13, 2012, 06:34 PM EDT
Oh My God! "Seanomelb" is back again! Has anybody got the pest-swat? Éamonn, Dublin, Ireland. I STAND WITH ISRAEL. I SERIOUSLY DESPISE ISLAM. And I don't think much of Seanomelb either!
EamonnDublin | May 13, 2012, 06:30 PM EDT
"Sirpeter" - I think you might be American, are you, I don't know withoutgoing back over the posts. The reason I ask is that Americans don't "do" irony - hence your misplaced advice. But thank you anyway, I'm sure it was well intended. Just to reassure you - I NEVER lose my temper. Éamonn, Dublin, Ireland. I STAND WITH ISRAEL. I DESPISE ISLAMISM.
seanomelb | May 12, 2012, 08:01 PM EDT
Eamonn is retiring battered and bruised a beaten man.BTW in your haste you forgot to sign off with your usual new word "Islamism".Now run along and self flagellate for loosing your temper you naughty boy.
sirpeter | May 12, 2012, 07:54 PM EDT
Eamonn.Welcome to IC ;))Come with me to the internet meltdown room for counseling~~~Deep breath Eamonn!! OK!! Carry on!!.Oh!!Just one thing. You're mother was a wise woman.Maybe!! Just maybe.Less confrontation with other posters might be best for you.You might find it less stressful if this place make you lose your temper.
EamonnDublin | May 12, 2012, 06:40 PM EDT
"Seanomelb" - As Alfred Lord Tennyson put it: "Canst thou put that in English, please, kind sir"? Éamonn, Dublin, Ireland. (Or, as my dear mother used to say, "It's better to recognise one's own limitations than to make a fool of onself".) NOW, GO AWAY, Seanie, you are nothing but a bloody childish, pestering, nasty minded, headbanging nuisance. There, now are you satisfied - you made me lose my temper with your silly little snipes. But go on, admit it, deep down you really KNOW that I'm right! Ah, go on!

EamonnDublin | May 10, 2012, 07:35 AM EDT
"Seanomelb" - My "anti-Obama diatribe"? But, kind sir, all I said was that we haven't seen his credentials. Normally, EVERYBODY has to show they have the qualifications they presume to hold. What is "anti" or "diatribe" about asking him to follow the norm? AS for the rest of your post, your vocabulary is obviously beginning to dwindle! As Patrick Kavanagh would have said, "To call the truth a lie, is to deny truth - truth is truth, to deny truth is a lie". Éamonn, Dublin, Ireland. I STAND WITH ISRAEL.
seanomelb | May 09, 2012, 08:08 PM EDT
Get rid of all mind control and learn to love each other without any religious controls is that what you are saying Mereflow?
merefalow | May 09, 2012, 01:20 PM EDT
yes great, get rid of, 2,000 years of christian mind bending control ,and replace it with something a million times more backward and feudal.keep it out.,
seanomelb | May 08, 2012, 08:02 PM EDT
After reading your anti Obama diatribe It's the smell of the horse sh#t you leave behind when the horseman ride along. Maybe you should change your non de plume to "doubting Thomas" or "smear master".
misneac | May 07, 2012, 03:56 PM EDT
Thats great news that the media are promoting the usual anti Catholic agenda ,and welcoming Islam to Ireland . A positive result is that we will have no women drivers on the roads !
EamonnDublin | May 07, 2012, 09:25 AM EDT
"Seanomelb" - It's not just Obama's birth certificate that we haven't seen - it's also his education/college records, his Social Security records, etc. What's wrong with producing them and saying "There you are, idiots, now, what's all the fuss about"? As W.B. Yeats might have said "Horseman, pass by - but firstly I want to see your credentials"! Éamonn, Dublin, Ireland.
seanomelb | May 06, 2012, 07:36 PM EDT
An oversight Briano I will be more diligent in future. Dean Jackson denies the capture of Bin Laden!! I suppose you question the presidents birth certificate, I think you're just another teahadist
jacersagain | May 06, 2012, 05:45 PM EDT
(...more) For more hardened drinkers, you need a distillation process: buy a still (available through reputable underworld metal manufacturing fitters at a slightly annoying cost, or from ex-pats owning one and selling it on as they leave after finishing their contracts or going into SA jails for being caught in possession; don’t let the cost worry you, you’ll get your money back after the first brew when you sell your product on to hardy thirsty people). Hardened drinkers only need tap water, yeast and sugar and three weeks’ patience while the fermentation takes place. In SA, the end-product alcoholic drink is called siddiqui or ‘Syd’ for short, which in Arabic means ‘friend’. (If you want to buy some from a secretly-known distiller, ask “Any sign of Syd these days?” – that’s your desperate secret call for hard booze). You can mix it with Coke or Orange or whatever, like you do in Ireland; don’t forget the olives (gin-like) or orange or lime slices (like vodka) and ice, for your utter Islamic-illegal delectation. In Ireland, under Islamic law, instead of ‘Syd’, you will hafta revert to its old secret Irish name, Caitlín Mavourneen (no, ye eejits, it’s not poteen – that’s made from potatoes! And Caitlín Mavourneen is the old Irish for ‘Kathleen, my Secret Love’ – heh heh). Forget your oul’ tubberware parties, get practicing and be ready to do secret social nights in your home entitled “Welcome to your Alcoholic World under Islam in Ireland” or something like that. Who needs Irish Central’s Pub Guide when this jacers gives you your own private pub for free? Eh??
jacersagain | May 06, 2012, 05:35 PM EDT
(… more) It therefore behoves me as a true fervent Irishman to prepare my drink-enjoying fellow countrymen and women for life under Islam in Ireland. Let me give a bit of background info first… The Saudi authorities today ignore the private production of alcohol within ex-pats residential quarters which is so easy to do in the (fermentation-level) heat of Saudi Arabia. Thousands of ex-pats in SA, like I once was, just go to the supermarket, buy a crate (24 bottles) of non-alcoholic beer in the soft drinks section, then go to the baking section in the next aisle, buy sugar and yeast, go home and mix the lot with tap water in a clean 20-litre jerry can (use baby sanitation washing liquids regularly to wash out) and leave to ferment in the Saudi heat. Three weeks later, place in the fridge for a while and you’ll have slurpilicious cold alcoholic beer, about 40 pints at a cost of 30 cent a litre. Do this weekly and you’ll never run out of a few jars, even in Islamic Ireland; just use the hot press in your house for the 3-week fermentation period in cold Ireland. The same applies for wine drinkers: buy red or white grape juice instead of non-alcoholic beer, add sugar and yeast and leave to ferment for the 3 weeks and you’ll have 20 bottles of red or white wine at a cost of about 50 cent a bottle. (… more)
jacersagain | May 06, 2012, 05:30 PM EDT
@ TayandCake: Saying the Irish love their drink is no reason to suggest that Islam is not going to take over Ireland. It’s going to happen, something that will utterly satisfy the Anti-Catholic Brigade; google for ‘Changing Demographics: How Muslims are growing and Islam is spreading’ for full shudering info. Although Islamic Law prohibits consumption of alcohol and other mind-bending drugs, it is freely available in most Muslim countries to non-Muslims and to brave, 100-lashes-defying Muslims. It was freely available in Saudi Arabia (SA) to ex-pats until about the 1920s or ‘30s, I forget which. It was completely banned in SA since when a young Saudi Prince got pissed, at some diplomatic function near where Laurence of Arabia did his famous railway attack, and had a row with somebody. The prince left the function, went home, got his gun and returned to kill the person he had the row with in front of all the diplomats. The prince, being of the Saudi Royal family, was spared execution but alcohol was completely banned in SA since then. However, foreign country embassies in Riyadh's Diplomatic Quarters, including Ireland’s and the USA’s, do have social/business functions where alcohol is allowed, brought into the country in “Diplomatic Cargo Boxes” or “Diplomatic Bags”, which no country’s customs officers are allowed to inspect. (More…)

As a woman the thought of living under Sharia Law and having to wear a Burka horrorifies me. The RC Church has it's problems but you would have bigger problems under Islam if they took control of your country.
peterson | May 05, 2012, 01:58 PM EDT

Curitiba, aggressive atheism, tis well seen you have not talked to many young and not so young. Hundreds in that age group were beaten, or raped, so angry..yes. Atheist..no, they believe in god, but not in Rome and the so called servants of god who abused them. Even now there is nothing but worms creeping out of the Vatican woodwork. Islam will never take over Ireland either.
BrianO | May 05, 2012, 09:37 AM EDT
I must thank the islamist supporters for their compliments as they have stengthend my beliefs and shown light on their objectives. the only one I'm not too sure about is EK as you may be a well intentioned soul who is in the process of being mis-led, if so question the source of "facts",if not , bravo you are stealhy.

the irish are,nt that gullible to take notice of some ethnic pr*ck talking rubbish
EphraimKibbey | May 05, 2012, 01:25 AM EDT
@Irishphotograph - I too abhor the violence being done by the Islamic terrorists but remember that it was not so long ago that the RCC killed anyone who refused to convert or even disputed its interpretation of the bible. I also abhored the violence in Ireland not so long ago. When you stereotype a people, you halt discourse with them and loose the chance to persuade them of better ways to their ends. Babies scream and yell to get their needs fulfilled but eventually they grow up and learn that talking often works better.

bythebay I hope you have no offspring's and if you have the should be made wards of the state, considering your state of mind.BTW I just spotted Cardinal O'Brady pass by wearing black robes and turban, maybe he is now the Ayatollah O'Brady. Maybe the children would be safer under the Islamic republic of Ireland.I can hear the Allah Aqbar chorus already as I write.

Irish Americans there is no such organization as Al-Qaeda.That's just a made up word so ye can focus on some entity that wants to do ye harm. It's impossible to have a multinational, stateless army.Ask the PIRA and they were the best.

Islam is in Ireland and Ireland has no difficulty with it. Not to worry the rest of you who dont' live in Ireland. You don't live in Ireland so it doesn't concern you.

Forget the Guinness or the Jameson these guys must be smoking a lot of that Opium in the Hellman mustard province

If you read Malachi Brendan Martin, this all makes more than sense. He stated that there were three great philosophies competing for economic superiority in the world. These are Russo-Chinese Communism, radical Islam, and capitalism. Do some math on figuring out just where the explosives used by the provisionals (the latest 600 lbs.)are coming from.
Irishphotograph | May 04, 2012, 03:40 PM EDT
Other than the fact that Muslims haven't killed every non-Muslim under their domain, there is very little else that they can point to as proof that theirs is a peaceful, tolerant religion. Where Islam is dominant (as in the Middle East and Pakistan) religious minorities suffer brutal persecution with little resistance. Where Islam is in the minority (as in Thailand, the Philippines and Europe) there is the threat of violence if Muslim demands are not met. Either situation seems to provide a justification for religious terrorism, which is persistent and endemic to Islamic fundamentalism. Unlike nearly all of the Old Testament verses of violence, most of the verses of violence in the Quran are open-ended, meaning that they are not restrained by the historical context of the surrounding text. They are part of the eternal, unchanging word of Allah, and just as relevant or subjective as anything else in the Quran" Unfortunately, there are very few verses of tolerance and peace to abrogate or even balance out the many that call for nonbelievers to be fought and subdued until they either accept humiliation, convert to Islam, or are killed. Muhammad's own martial legacy and the remarkable stress on violence found in the Quran have resulted in a trail of blood and tears across world history

Hi "Seagreen". Point taken - fire away! Éamonn, Dublin, Ireland.
Nicomax | May 04, 2012, 01:05 PM EDT
Making such a move would be a case of jumping from the frying pan into the fire. Better the Irish stay on their currently safe path towards secularism.
fscarlson | May 04, 2012, 12:57 PM EDT
I've never considered the Irish to be gullible. My first thought was "in a pig's eye that would happen". These radicals are just nuts. But it will us who are nuts if we allow them a foot in the door.
Curitiba | May 04, 2012, 12:54 PM EDT
I don't think Islam would make much inroads against the agressive atheism that seems to have taken root and is growing in Ireland's young and not-so-young people.
seagreen | May 04, 2012, 12:47 PM EDT
Eamonn....Not exactly a rant on my part, no venom flowing. The opinion I share is one of watching things fall apart while the perimeter is shrinking. Do not want to see the church defended down to the last man. In my opinion there are some in the hierachy that will allow that to happen, because they are no longer relating a large percentage of the church..

EamonnDublin | May 04, 2012, 12:14 PM EDT
Hi "Seagreen"! I'm glad to see you managed to slip in just the single sentence in line with the core subject matter, after your rant about the Catholic church. How did you manage to get your breath back to do it? Éamonn, Dublin, Ireland.
seagreen | May 04, 2012, 12:07 PM EDT
The entire article is a combination of wishful thinking, fabrication, and preference thru relativity, that is rinsed with hog wash.. That being said ! All of the abuses, pedofilia, perversion, and overbearing dominence that revert back to the middle ages that the Catholic church is foisting upon its present day members will not be tolerated much longer. People are now better educated technically and academically, and to survive and interact domestically and internationally they must live in a more circumspect manner. One way for the church to survive is to allow marriage (like every other christian denomination) With a troubled marriage, do you want to talk to a celibate priest, or one that is also married and might reply (yeah, tell me about it) before offering advice. Some Irish may empathise with the politics of Islam, however I doubt Irish females will be rushing to the Isllamic clothing store to buy the latest burka (or whatever it is)
EamonnDublin | May 04, 2012, 10:52 AM EDT
Have you seen the size of some of our women? Once they realise that Islam is SERIOUS about taking over Western civilization and subjecting us all to Shari'a law, the Women of Ireland will run the little feckers out of the country! Come on, Gadahn, bring it on, the Women of Ireland are waiting for you - and NOT in a nice way! Éamonn, Dublin, Ireland.
billyjustin | May 04, 2012, 10:39 AM EDT
even though i was abused by the catholic church, sexually, mentally and physically, i stepped out from this religion and turned my back on the church, but nothing in the world would ever tempt me to join islam, so no, Ireland is not about to turn to another smothering religion. so sleep easy. the chinese are coming. another subject...
madpadd | May 04, 2012, 10:14 AM EDT
Now who in their right mind would want to convert to Islam. Well said AlaskanChic.
AlaskanChick | May 04, 2012, 09:57 AM EDT
I hope the Irish people as a whole are smarter than this Adam Gadhan believes they are. Do you realize that most countries that follow Islam are third world countries who live like cavemen and act like troglodytes? They try to move to industrilized countries and infect them by saying that Islam is the Religion of choice yet they are a religion full of extremeists who twist the Koran so that they can justify the stoning of girls and women, killing others then literally hiding behind their own mosques, hospitals and schools so that innocent people can get killed while they run like cockroaches to their dark, damp hideouts. They convince poor uneducated people to become sucide bombers yet you don't see the higher ups in their little cult doing any sucide bombing do you? It's because these extremeist are cowards who let poor uneducated people of their third world countries do their dirty work. Look at the problems they cause when they move in mass to educated industrilized nations or worse yet convince nations to follow Islam? Does Africa come to mind? What religions all around the world need to do is learn to work together, show mutual respect and not allow roaches like this to try to make enemies of each other. Yes Catholics and Jews were enemies at one point as were Catholics and Protestants. Yet as educated people we see where those so called "Holy Wars" got us. Just death and destruction. Lets learn from the mistakes in history and learn mutual respect. Don't let Islam come into Ireland and infect them with their twisted ugly views on life. I always wonder what God(Or Allah as the Muslims call him) thinks when he looks down and sees the war, havaoc, destruction and hatred that twisted extremeists of religions do in his name and how they twist their holy books so they can try to justify their actions. Very sad
