Presentation Sister Patricia Wall, 76, completed a two-mile tandem jump with SkyDive Ireland in a bid to raise €100,000 for Aware and local charities in Slieveardagh, Co Tipperary.

According to the Sun, the OAP nun took off at 10am from the Galway Airport for the terrifying leap with tandem jumper Dean Cocozza. Cheered on by friends and family, St Pat returned safely to solid ground nearly 30 minutes later.

“I was trying to follow all the instructions and to enjoy it — I hadn’t time to think about God," said the fearless flying nun.

“I’ll need time to recover from that but it was amazing.”

On The Flying Nun page on mycharity.ie, Sr Pat says she has a "new lease on life since becoming involved in community work."

She goes on to say that "Aware is a charity very close to my own heart as I suffered from depression in my thirties.

"The charities that I have chosen to support are very worthy causes and I would very much appreciate your support in helping me to raise funds for these organisations."

Sr Pat writes: "I hope to make a difference in peoples lives and I am committed to enhancing the well being and quality of life for people who live in our area and anybody suffering or affected by depression."

As of this writing, Sr Pat has raised €24,458.25. To donate, go to The Flying Nun page on mycharity.ie.
