To celebrate the election of President John F. Kennedy into the White House on November 8, 1960 - 50 years ago- the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library in Boston, Massachusetts, marked the occasion on Monday evening.

To remember, highlight and celebrate Kennedy's victory and legacy a black-tie invitation gala celebration took place with several of the guests being of Kennedy stock.

Those in attendance included Caroline Kennedy, Vicki Kennedy - wife of the late Senator Ted Kennedy, Kennedy campaign organizer Gerard Doherty and representatives from the Irish, Canadian, British, Korean, German and Italian consulates.

Also there to celebrate the occasion were former Kennedy White House staffers including Richard Donahue, Dan Fenn, Richard Goodwin as well as Treasurer-elect Steve Grossman and historian Doris Kearns Goodwin.

To remember the Kennedy's Irish heritage Guinness was served to the guests.

The best democrat US president of the last century for sure. His income tax cuts combined with playing Irish rules football with the soviets over the missiles in Cuba along with Brother Bobby's battling national union thugs caused several years of economic boom world wide ... all in all a very good presidency while it lasted. (Well written but otherwise mediocre movie: Thirteen Days)
