The Irish language should be the number 1 language taught in schools. Even before English. Another example of Ireland being sold out to globalization and multiculturalism.
WK: I omitted to say that we have a Goethe Institute here. But as with many things, it can only be found in distant Dublin. >>>>>>German Govt realistically won't bother communicating with an education ministry which for the main part probably unable to communicate with it fluently , or competently (!)
Govt's legacy that we be a multi-lingual bla-blah my eye. We put so much resources into murdering our own Gaelic language by teaching it with Classical methods! Result being that only the brightest & best (who become our elite) can gain a shaky fluency in it, yet killing the joy of it for all the rest of us! Now to German: 8 German companies operate in the main town near myself. Here's the Punchline: The new high school (ca 500 pupils )that went up 10 years ago does not offer German But French L-O-L. Yep, 1 French teacher on the staff. And crucially not a native speaker thats teaching it (!). But 3 Irish teachers to boot!
How come the German government isn't giving grants and scholarships for Ireland to teach more German? Why should Irish taxpayers pay for it? And AngryPaddy--50 yers is too long to stay angry, it's bad for your health.
All Oirish will be speaking GERMISH by 2050 The language of their masters Thank God i left that shithole of a Banana republic in the early '80's
