Wikileaks: US Government closely monitor 40,000 Irish Muslims
Dosier’s reveal claims concerning Ireland’s largest mosque

The U.S. Government monitors Ireland’s mosques amid concerns over alleged Islamic ‘extremists’ operating in Ireland, the latest leaked embassy cables have revealed.
According to the cables, closely monitoring Ireland’s Muslim population of around 40,000, is a priority for U.S. diplomats posted in Ireland. They frequently sent detailed records to
Washington DC relating to suspected extremists and ‘radical’ Irish Muslims.
The dossiers also show detailed accounts relating to the leadership and membership of Dublin’s four main mosques,
Former U.S. ambassador, Thomas Foley, told officials in Washington DC, that the Irish government was being complacent in their efforts to pursue alleged terrorists, the cables revealed.

The documents were revealed among almost 2,000 embassy cables, attained by the I
rish Independent from Wikileaks.
The leaked cables revealed claims concerning Ireland’s largest mosque in Clonskeagh, Dublin, which is run by the Islamic Cultural Centre of Ireland (ICCI).
The claims include the following:
*Members of the ICCI mosque celebrated the kidnapping of Irish aid worker Margaret Hassan;
*Children at a school linked to the same mosque mourned the death of Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, the leader of Al Qa'ida in Iraq;
*Some Irish Muslims felt the ICCI did not take a sufficiently strong stance against global extremist violence.
The latest Wikileak cables show that in recent years, the U.S. has become less concerned about the threat of an Islamic terrorist attack being launched in Ireland.
US Ambassador Dan Rooney told Secretary of State Hillary Clinton in August 2009 he believed “overall the Muslim community in Ireland is content and moderate”.

A spell living in Saudi Arabia and other Mid-East countries, as I have done, would quickly make native Irish apologists for Muslims do an abrupt U-turn. It hasn't sunk in to the minds of the politicians in Ireland that Muslims can not be trusted. They think differently (yes even the 'nice' ones). Who in their right mind would trust people whose 'holy' book dictates that it is their duty to kill all non-muslims? Their 'religion' is a cruel, barbaric, hateful ideology which is a major security threat to the West.

we should not allow anyone into Ireland at present unless studying, even at that, the devil you know is better than the devil you don,t. irish culture is going by the wayside and being annihilated,to be replaced with pseudo-irish culture. we have no problems with other nationalities and or religions, except muslims. be they african, british, arab or indian. if you want to live in someones garden respect their laws and customs,if you don,t like it F**K OFF. the country will get on just fine without you.

@mamaginnty, you're welcome. @GeorgeDillon - I assume your comment expresses your distain for Ireland's immigration policies. Hopefully, the Irish will deal with their immigration problems better than the U.S. has with theirs.

Well lets just take a look at who's been strapping bombs to themselves, setting off car bombs or hijacking planes in say the last 2 decades? There's a reason the term "radical Islam" is in the worlds vocabulary- if Muslims don't like it then police your own, speak out against violence, don't stand by while some Iman teists and turns the quuran into something promoting violence against whomever they decide they don't agree with and for God's sake if some guy draws a picture of Mohamad there's no reason for them to start issueing death sentences- silence is taken as being in agreement with what those nutt jobs choose to do or say. And for God's sake the U.S. government cannot keep tabs on all the nutt jobs here in the U.S. so they ain't exactly going to be doing a bang up job on those in Ireland.

I thought the land of my father's birth was a free country. From the comments it seems there is no freedom of religion.

jamielm: "most sources say there are only 198 nationalities in the U.S". Why, that's about the number of nationalities in Ireland nowadays!

Europe is still racist, xenophobic and Islamophobic. It is unable to forget and forgive the seige of Vienna in 1683. I fully understand the FEAR & THE INFERIORITY COMPLEX Factor among some Christians / Jews & the Hindu Groups/Individuals when dealing with the subject of ISLAM. Today the followers of All the Religions in the World are talking Only about ISLAM, because, it is understandable that You will only talk about SOMETHING WHICH IS TRULY HUGE / GIGANTIC & TREMENDOUSLY SUCCESSFUL, when compared to ALL the other religions. We will NEVER like to discuss about anything which is INSIGNIFICANT, but ISLAM IS HUGELY SIGNIFICANT as the Fastest Growing Religion in the entire World, not only Europe or America or Africa or Asia or Australia. ISLAM as a religion is Growing Everywhere, by the Grace of the Almighty Allah. This is not there in the case of other religions, because THEY ARE ALL OBSOLETE NOW. Only ISLAM is the One and Only LIVE/TRUE religion in this World, hence SPREADING. There is a tremendous CAMPAIGN GOING AROUND THE WORLD TO DEMONISE ISLAM to put a STOP ON ITS GROWTH. Please do not Demonise ISLAM, Read the Noble Quran to understand what ISLAM really is. IA http://www.londonschoolofislamics.org.uk

beware the formerly clean-shaven rag-head you knew who no sooner having been re-programmed//radicalised, sports a long, frizzy beard. That, tends to be a vital indicator. 'Succumb' to Alla h, no thanks, never! They must live by our unlovely constitution.

@mamaginnty - although there are 254 countries in the world, most sources say there are only 198 nationalities in the U.S. The number may be open to debate, I don't know, but 198 is probably close to being the correct number.

I would not be at all surprised if Islamic extremist are using Ireland. I believe it most likely has the reputation as a safe haven throughout the world and the IRA may even help. I was in Ennis, County Clare, in 2001 and found it to be a very nice clean town. I returned in 2007 and found it very different, a more darker edge. Then I was walking down a street and two men came towards me. They were obviously of Arab stock and they gave me such an evil eye I was worried they might do something. They probably recognized me as an American and could not hide their hate. If there are people like that in Ennis then, yes, Islamic extremists could be there, too.
mamaginnty | Jun 07, 2011, 06:01 PM EDT
I am surprised at Wikileaks getting the head count so wrong.

Can anyone tell us how many nationalities are in America ?
cillowen | Jun 07, 2011, 05:21 PM EDT
Ireland should monitor the jews very closely. They are infiltrating countries all over Europe and that is their plan. Next thing they will want is Ireland to honor their apartheid "Laws".
billyjustin | Jun 07, 2011, 05:09 PM EDT
And we, like the soft touch we are, pay all their benefits and subsidize their buildings, and even give secondary schools tours of their Mosque, next we will let them into the Irish army,we need a kick up the jacksy.. billy

Trea, Americans will be ROFLMAO when Ireland wakes up to Sharia laws! I cannot believe that you, of all people, would say something like that. You KNOW what their agenda is when they migrate to different countries.
GeorgeDillon | Jun 07, 2011, 04:23 PM EDT
kevin 1971: Good point about sham marriages. It's a commonplace in Ireland now for a Latvian hooker or near hooker to fly in from Riga or wherever to "marry" a Paki migrant. Once she has identified which of the bearded guys shuffling around the marriage office is her "groom", and signed a few papers, the Latvian hooker flies back home. The Pak stays in Ireland. This scam gives residence rights to the Pak, and a few thousand bucks to the Latvian. It gives nothing to Ireland but another welfare pimp, who will immediately start to work to bring over Uncle Ali or Cousin Hassan. Once again, the hapless Irish "government" (just what do they exist for?) says it's unable to stop this abuse of Irish marriage and immigration law.

As in the U.S., if immigrants cannot and just plain DO NOT want to assimilate with the consciousness, heart and soul and CULTURE of its land, just want to take advantage of what other hard-working immigrants have built...deport them.. Teddy Roosevelt said he didn't want the U.S. to be the boarding house of the world (i.e. the INTENT of immigrants should rightfully be to put down roots and INVEST their intelligence and hard-work in the land they chose to come to, whether fleeing oppression, economic or religious...NOT TO JUST BLEED THE LAND DRY is what I think his meaning was). An 3rd-generation Itallian-American detective from New York observed and said to me: "The U.S. is giving away the farm." To me, him and many others who are mindful that what our ancestors and what the unwillingly-brought to its shores African Americans labored for, as well as English bond-servants and every other Western and Eastern European, including last, but not least, the Chinese men in the mid 1980, did who labored along with Irishb men dynamiting mountains in the American West and building the railroads, among other works, it goes WITH SAYING... An Irish-Cherokee Amerian friend of mine said that people ARE TODAY COMING to the U.S. with a LIST OF DEMANDS... not like the 'afore'-mentioned immigrants, who worked hard, succeeded in greater or lesser measure and even so their children and grandchildren became Americans and did well...

I believe there are at least 40,000 muslims in ireland, overall compared to other western nations their population seems to nearly double every 10 years, many of these are in sham marriages, where they marry, convert and have children with east europeans, pakistanis, nigerians, arabs are everywhere now, irish people are being forced to emigrate for work, whilst these people will never go,terrorist attacks will happen someday, its in the nature of islam to wage war on the unbelievers
GeorgeDillon | Jun 07, 2011, 03:05 PM EDT
It gets monotonous having to correct careless columnists on Irish Central. Yet again there's a blooper. The headline speaks of 40,000 Irish Muslims. This is complete nonsense. There aren't 40.000 Irish Muslims. The body of the article puts it more accurately--"Ireland’s Muslim population of around 40,000". The great majority of these are foreign migrants, not Irish. Of course why paks, Afghans, Arabs etc. are being permitted to settle Ireland in their tens of thousands is a question that our columnist never thinks to ask.
sirpeter | Jun 07, 2011, 03:03 PM EDT
I think it's a disgrace to have a gunman's picture linked to all the Irish Muslims living in Ireland.I'd be throwing jihad fu*ks into IC if I was a Muslim.According to Wiki there is around 40,000. 1/3 Irish 1/3 African 1/3 Asian.BUT!!because of the economic situation in Ireland many Muslims are returning to Muslim countries and the Islamic population is decreasing rapidly with many mosques closing.
mojo145 | Jun 07, 2011, 01:34 PM EDT
they are only monitoring the ones that have links to radicals.there are more than 40,000 in the country. There has been an open door policy for along time many came from africa and the middle eastern countries. The blinders have been on for too long time for irish goverment to take them off.
mcdolan | Jun 07, 2011, 01:26 PM EDT
I don't believe there are 40,000 Muslims in Ireland, for one thing. We will know later this summer (a misnomer for sure) when the 2011 stats are released. Nonetheless, being Muslim does not translate to 'enemy'. If one were to read the Quoran, one would know that Mohammed did not condone murder, and that a Jihad must be justified by the Muslim faith being threatened. Is it possible there are terrorists among the rather peaceful Muslims of Ireland? Of course. But there are terriorists among all people. I am sure the Irish government does not have its head in the sand and that known questionables are being 'watched'. Let's not get paranoid, folks!
Liamkeyes | Jun 07, 2011, 12:32 PM EDT
Every week-end outside the G.P.O. no less, there are a bunch of Muslims handing out literature and free copies of the Qouran. OH! and there are Romanian gypsies begging there also, every day.. I don't know why the gypsies don't get busted, O'Connell Street is beginning to look like Beirut, Caairo or Calcutta. It's appalling.
irishamerica46 | Jun 07, 2011, 11:57 AM EDT
I've read in Irish Central that many young Irish are leaving due to the lack of jobs. What motivates Muslims to move there then???
OldMariner | Jun 07, 2011, 11:53 AM EDT
4000 or 400 muslims in Ireland. Either number is way too much. With present Irish economic conditions, why do these bastards still stay?
phonefreak | Jun 07, 2011, 11:29 AM EDT
I think it is ridiculous that there is even mosques in Dublin!!!!
Trealach | Jun 07, 2011, 11:28 AM EDT
Don't you just love American paranoia and exaggeration - 40,000 Muslims!! roflmao - try 4,000 maximum. Though it may seem a strange concept to Americans, it is not illegal to mourn the death of anyone in Ireland, especially if they share the same faith. IF there are radical Muslims here making any threat, then the authorities here will deal with them, and without the consent of the US. It's high time America got its nose out of other countries affairs, and concentrate on cleaning up their own dung heap.
antoman | Jun 07, 2011, 11:18 AM EDT
I witnessed a verbal argument one day in the park I live in between two Irish women. One of them had converted and was a muslim.Replete with head scarf. One of the women shouted at the other "you're not a muslim you're Irish!!"Made me smile. The muslim women moved out of the park shortly after. What would be the reaction in Ireland if what happened in the UK on 7/7 happened here?I'll tell you the answer..mass vigilantism.Facilitated by the Gardai.Yes, the law here would collude with vigilantes.I have no doubt about it.
baileyBD | Jun 07, 2011, 11:18 AM EDT
My Dearest Ireland, please, please, please be careful and monitor the happennings in these places. Without a doubt, the muslims have a mission to simply over populate and take over and bring all native inhabitants under Shria Law and Islamic control. Do not be complacent, as they are willing to wait and to allow things to evolve slowly.
stephendoyle | Jun 07, 2011, 10:53 AM EDT
I find it extremely hard to believe that over 1 percent of the population in Ireland is "Muslim". I think someone hit a wrong digit on their calculator........
PhlutiePhan | Jun 07, 2011, 10:35 AM EDT
Obviously, this is a big problem. You have a "fifth column" developing both in Ireland and the United States. You can pretty well guess just how the explosives are getting into Ireland for the provisionals (whoops "former provisionals). Irans arms come from China with support from Russia. There are now connections in South America. Iranian "advisors" are in South America who are proxies for the Chinese and Russians. Muslims in the United States are reaching out to "street gangs". Can't anyone see what is developing?
Springfield9 | Jun 07, 2011, 10:30 AM EDT
How the #@$@##@ do you end up with 40,000 Muslims in Ireland????? Did someone forget to tell them that the old God (Dagda) had 2 pigs and free beer!
PiperMac52 | Jun 07, 2011, 10:05 AM EDT
Ireland would be wise to keep close tabs on the Muslim populatuion. I slam is an ideology/theocratic/dictatorship which has as it's goal the conversin of the world through any means. Learn from France, Germany, Spain...The West presupposes that Muslims come to live in a free society. That may be true for the quiet majority. However when Islamists push for invreasingly more "Rights", such as Sharia courts, it is the begining of the end for Europe. Be informed. www.thereligionofpeace.com
