“That’s not justice. I see it as a trap — it was some Mickey Mouse court.”

When Daniel got the news his brothers had been sentenced to 11-years, he said he had “just a lot of empty feelings”.

He added: “It’s terrible. The fact is that one of my brothers was there at the wrong time.”

Daniel expressed concern for Dermot’s 17-year-old girlfriend, who is due to give birth to their child next month.

“She’s in bits — she’ll have to give birth alone now.

“It’s all too much drama. I don’t know what to say to her. I’m just doing what I can.”

Leigh also has a child with his girlfriend, but has not remained in touch.

He explained that he and his brothers had a difficult upbringing and were raised by their grandmother who died last year.

“After that everything went all pear-shaped. We all took it very badly.”

Relatives will be reassured to know that protection rackets are available for hire to fellow prisoners. Competing gangs in notoriously atavistic Latin American jails quote reasonable rates for personal protection, defensive driving and bodyguarding services. All credit cards accaptable, payable to Senor Jesus (Hey Zeus!) Martinez of the Los Diablos/The Devils (or colloquial Hiberno-English - De Divils) down town Caracas crime syndicate. Failing which to Senor Hannibal Ramirez of the Los Mutherfucheros (ahem!) crime syndicate may under cut(?) their tender.

So their grandmother died last year and they decided to go into the drug smuggling business, well there you are, they couldn't look for a job like everyone else, life is tough in Ireland, no dole, children allowance, etc. no need to go on.No sympathy from me,they made their beds.
Looks like the Socialist Republic of Venezuela is determined not to take this Capitalist Buccaneer Crime Thang ! (Capitalism is Crime ! The Status Quo is sustained by Plutocratic, Bi-Partisan, exploitation of the Proletariat, through a Sectarian Aristocratic Tradition, of Indoctrination, and Pseudo-Cultural Hegemony. Like all Crime, success requires the procurement of a Victim, or Scapegoat, from which the system will iether Plunder or Purvey upon itself, the spoils of sanctimonious, Right of Might. )
I've been in Venezuela on a number of occasions. I always behaved very prudently while there, I wouldn't even J-walk. It is beyond belief that Dermot thought he was in Venezuela for a vacation. How many working-class Irish people go to Caracas for R & R?
He was as guilty as the others. If you can't do the time don't do the crime. So simple.
what does criminals expect candy
Good advice by TisEyerish. It pays to be on your best behavior when you're in a foreign country.
The answer is simple...don't commit the crime and you won't have to suffer the consequences of getting caught. Period.
