It's the fashion and film event of the month and for once it threatens to make politics look stylish. Sex and the City actress Sarah Jessica Parker and Vogue editor Anna Wintour are co-hosting a June 14 fundraiser for the president's reelection campaign at Parker's swank New York house.

Following on from the tradition recently set by George Clooney, Parker and Wintour have set aside some seats at their table for winners of a new sweepstakes and to get the word out Parker aired the first national TV spot of the Obama campaign during the MTV Movie Awards on Sunday night.

According to the Huffington Post the 30-second ad features features the actress stumping for 'that guy,' who 'says you should be able to marry anyone you want' and who 'created 4 million jobs,' among other notable achievements.

Anyone who donates the recommended minimum of $3 or more to the campaign will be entered to win tickets to the event, which will be attended by President Barack and Michelle Obama.

It's an opportunity with an enthusiastic audience - Clooney's fundraiser offer raked in a cool $15 million.

Parker concluded: 'As a woman, a mother, and an entrepreneur, I need to believe our country can be a place where everyone has a fair shot at success. This November's election will determine whether we get to keep moving forward, or if we're forced to go back to policies that ask people like my middle-class family in Ohio to carry the burden - while people like me, who don't need tax breaks, get extra help.'
