A day before she hanged herself, Mary Richardson Kennedy called Robert F Kennedy Jr to say that 'everything was her fault.'
'She told me that she was sorry for everything. She said that I was right about everything,' Kennedy said in a police statement released this week.
According to the Evening Herald, Kennedy Jr gave his statement to the police the day after his wife died. Mary Richardson Kennedy hanged herself on May 16 in a garage on their Bedford, New York estate.
Much of the file released to the press this week has been blacked out and it is not clear what Mary Kennedy was referring to by 'everything.'
At the time of her death both she and her ex-husband were involved in a divorce and custody battle for their four children.
In his statement to the police Kennedy reportedly said that during their phone conversation on May 15 his wife 'told me that she needed me to take care of her.' He described her as 'a great person' and said he'd known her since she was 14.
An autopsy report showed Mary Kennedy had antidepressants in her system at the time of her death.
In his statement Kennedy described a frantic search for his wife after the housekeeper telephoned, sounding 'very scared' and saying she couldn't find her in the house.
After he searched the attic and the shore of a lake he heard a lot of screaming coming from the garage. Someone told him not to go inside he said, but he did where he saw his wife. The statement adds that Mary Kennedy was found in black gym clothes. Three metal crates and a metal ladder were found on the floor of the garage.

Other than the Kennedy apologist(crawforddayne), I whole-heartedly concur. May a great chasm open up and swallow the extended clan, including the new generation of professional politicians-for-life, JoeIII. In that way my fellow Massachusetts residents can be saved from their lemming-like need to vote whenever they see the Kennedy name on the ballot!

Blight indeed. More self-serving tripe coming from someone who will not let this woman rest in peace. He has already destroyed what little credibility he had left so spare us any more from this weasel, please!

So I 'm confused by your lack of focus on the actual facts here. Let your readers know why her real family didn't do one thing to prevent this tragic accident from happening, not one thing! Except show up after the fact and try and deny her children the opportunity to mourn their mother. They did know, they just wouldn't accept it. And now I'm quite sure they are all feeling pretty guilty for sitting back thinking their sister would never do such a thing and that must be a terrible thing to live with. Maybe next time they hear someone make multiple suicide threats they will pay attention and not ignore it. It continues to puzzle me why is this "publication" and every other rag points their accusatory and unknowledgeable fingers at someone who actually did every thing in their power to help this poor women. But clearly it's not about the truth but about sensationalism and attracting more readers to lousy publications who want to increase their web hits and their advertising revenue. In the end, all that is really accomplished with this kind of slime ball reporting is the creation of additional mental anguish for those kids, and for that anyone that participates should be ashamed of themselves. Why would anyone want to participate in that kind of suffering, because this is not news, this is a family tragedy.

Another piece of distorted information taken totally out of context and presented in an incendiary manner whose sole purpose is to produce a few web hits and generates a torrent of mean, nasty and malicious comments all from people who know nothing about this other than the crap you write. Because none of the commenters know this family, they just make assumptions based on gossip. Clearly the women was mentally ill, you don't mention that here do you? But what you do mention and insinuate is that someone refused her pleas for help. That is a lie, plain and simple. An accusatory statement and close to slanderous. This publication has been attacking and insinuating untruths since the very first article was posted. Clearly an in-house editorial campaign is being conducted to belabor, highlight and pounce on any opportunity to continue this effort. This inflammatory article has absolutely no relevance or anything that even remotely resembles news. just more of the same nasty repetitive fictional garbage you seem to think people are interested in. You have not once questioned any of the family members, the blood relatives, brothers and sisters, of which there were many, and who had a great deal more contact with their sister than her separated husband did. They knew exactly what was going on, her daily mood, her relapse's, her use of medications, her prior threats and hospitalizations.

Another slimeball Kennedy...blaming everything on his now dead ex-wife. Doesn't anyone in the entire family have morals? It sure seems like none of them do. I wish this entire clan would just fade into the background and we'd never have to hear their names again. They are a blight on Mother Ireland.

Does anybody believe the dribble that comes out of this blowhards mouth. He is so full of himself that he claims his deceased wife, that he cut off all money to, leaving her to beg for money from relatives so she could eat, called him the day before to say it was not his fault....Not buying it...

Oh, this is disgusting. RFK Jr should have kept his mouth shut. By making this statement, he's only proven what a self-serving little weasel he is...and I usually respect what the Kennedys are, at least, trying to do.
