I would imagine the families of Declan Sullivan and Lizzie Seeberg would sadly disagree with this assessment.
Could Irish Central be in the same category as Notre Dame?
I've just read all the comments and it sure sounds like a bunch of sorryassed losers out there.Who cares about how many books in the Library? Maybe they have the best collection of Classic Comics!!!One thing they DO have...TRADITION!!! Donahue was 57 not 55.I'll put my degree up against your Wayne State anytime anywhere and I'll put my Irish heritage up against most of you wannabes
Send me my 121 G's...
I like to think that the quality of the library collection is more important than the quantity…
Ballyhip you must not be American. First of all, Georgetown is the flagship Jesuit school; secondly, BC is jokingly referred to by Notre Dame students as "Backup College". Plus, every Boston College student/grad has something that No Notre Dame student has, a rejection letter from Notre Dame.
What do I think about Notre Dame as #1? Not much. Founded by a second rank Catholic order, it doesn't compare to any of the finer Jesuit schools like Boston College or Holy Cross.

correct, s/b NOT northwest Indiana. There is a Munster, IN between South Band and Chicago.
WickyLeaker: "When did your crowd take the soup"? Clearly, your are a "leftfooter" as they say down in Munster; that's in Ireland, northwest Indiana. As for your Ivy League comparison, at least Notre Dame can still hold up its' head up that NO KENNEDY HAS EVER GRADUATED FROM ND. Joe Gargan '44, the cousin who organized the Chappaquiddick soiree, is a Fitzgerald, not a Kennedy.
Folks, I was born and raised in South Bend. I truly loved and respected the universtity; however, it is not what it once was. When T. Hesburg retired, the vision of the university changed. The new president and board have hired every left wing loon they cound find. The once great relationship between the university and the community has turned to one of animosity. It is now a Catholic institution in name only. What a shame, and loss.
95% graduation rate! Puts the Ivies to shame for gross grade inflation. "Dream" school, alright. Just walk in and dream one's way through their soft courses.Stick out your tongue. Aha, woz that big black mark? Overdue for confession, but I guess you gotta fill those alumni clubs someway. BTW, not even close to being ranked among elite universities in the USA, let alone the "Catholic" world. But thanks for the Christian dose of "humility." ND might recruite Swaggert and Bakker for their theology faculty. A good fit, methinks. Blessed are the Meek? Right.
In reply to haikued2's comments, Notre Dame would be back to where it belongs on top if it fired the President and the Board of Directors who supported his inviting Obama!!!!
Totally agree with WoundedKnee and seamusmoore, This beautiful University has slowly become secularized. I've withnessed this change over the years while attending conferences and talking with alumni friends but never more so than in this past decade.
Interesting comments. With all these things that are posted being what is wrong with ND...what is right with it that would cause so many people to think it is a good place to go to school?
