Irish government Minister Lucinda Creighton has revealed she has been deluged with ‘vicious’ correspondence by Pro-Life activists.

The Irish Independent reports that the Junior Minister for European Affairs has been targeted as Ireland’s abortion debate intensifies.

Creighton has told reporters that she has received ‘vicious’ correspondence from both pro-life and pro-choice groups. She confirmed that that some of the letters contained ‘vile language’.

The Irish government is considering abortion legislation in the wake of the Savita Halappanavar case in Galway.

The paper reports that Creighton has already admitted she going to ‘struggle’ to decide on how to vote on the controversial issue of abortion.

The report says the Junior Minister is one of a number of Fine Gael TDs concerned about the possibility of abortion legislation designed to protect the life of the mother leading to ‘abortion on demand’.

Now Creighton has revealed that she had been sent ‘vicious, personal, horrific’ letters.
She said: “I’ve made it very clear that I would not support any regime that would introduce liberalised abortion or abortion on demand.”

Noel - of course IC has a pro-abortion, anti Catholic and far left agenda. You must be new to this site. Just keep watching and you will soon see plenty evidence.
The title of this article is very misleading. I hope that it does not point to a certain agenda on behalf of IRISH CENTRAL. The misleading title warrants an apology for upsetting and misleading so many Irish people. I agree generally with Lucinda, but even if I did'nt, I would never condone abuse of any person by either side on this issue. We are all entitled to our views on this controversial issue without fear of attack from either side. What is not needed at this time, is SENSATIONAL & MISLEADING HEADLINES.Please be more careful in future
Poor Lucinda Creighton, she's being hit by friendly fire. Anyone who knows her knows she's further to the right than the Westboro Baptist church. How instructive for her to get a cold hard look at the opinions of her fellow travelers for once. Usually she's standing with them casting aspersions out at others.
At first I thought the title of this article was a joke and then I realised it was sincere. Hello Mr. Counihan, you quote Minister Creighton in your own article saying that she received 'vicious' correspondence from both pro-life AND pro-choice groups. If anyone checks the full quote you will see she is very specific about naming both groups. You on the other hand have seemingly coined a deliberately misleading title which points blame at only pro-life. Please correct this soon before your article adds to a worryingly large amount that are either deliberately misleading or criminally poor journalism.
The innumerable crimes of the church that dares to claim to protect life .eg the pope UNexcommunciating Bishop Williamson, a holocaust denier / revisionist...........The VAT is not interested in protecting life, its interested in having more minds to control and even corrupt. Its goals much of its existance has been to create a catholic caliphate all over the world.........And in the USA we have had a number of murders of doctors who did abortions - taking the law into ones own hands simply leads to anarchy.........Its time to protect women. Its also time to realize that the church is run by men who only see women as baby factories............Meanwhile the church carries on madly about our gay and lesbian citizens here getting equal rights under CIVIL law marriage....While the good people of Ireland support per Irish times 3 to 1 changing the constitution to allow civil marriage for gay people...............The days of church oppression must be brougt to an end, including the endless hidden molestation of children, and life in prison for the hierarchy who knowingly hid these vile crimes. Which we know sometimes ended in suicide for the victim.........As someone said some years ago - the moral majority is neither
How unfair, because as we all know, there's nothing vicious about abortion.
Well put, mairint & liammurf! People should refrain from sending obscene postal & E-Mail, especially where women are concerned. I think that Lucinda Creighton will make sound choices!
Let's hope she make the right choice, or should I say Pro-Life stance would be the best
Creighton has called for rational debate on the abortion issue in Ireland. What isn't needed is foreign interference from the likes of Hillary Clinton and the Papal Nuncio.
The only people who are vicious are the ones who kill babies and who promote or facilitate the killing of babies. To protect life is NOT vicious. What a lot of rot for the wimpy Minister to use that accusation against people who would protect innocent life. Typical of the pro abort mentality - sure they do not even believe in truth....and get this, you anti Catholic anti Christian God kickers, you do not have to have any faith in order to know the truth. To kill babies is evil and savage and uncivilized. It is an abnormality in a mother that she would want her own baby killed.
well of course, the catholic church must NOT be deprived of its cannon fodder! Catholicism has become nothing so much as a beastial philosophy of willfull ignorance and devolution...its their story and they are sticking to it, right or wrong, duh...catholic beliefs absolutely require war for testing of new weapons and for the necessity of population control...better to kill the babies when they are grown, after they have suffered, so death is more welcome to the poor foolish saps who believe in this awful crap. It is just watered down judaism, wake up, with all the hate and angst and lies lifted up as THE WORD for people who have been made stupid with television and other zionist media. Irish jews, like all the rest, cannot see their wrongs because they do not want to.
