Just curious. When I was in Dublin in 2002 the Asgard was in Kilmainin on display. I had read the story of the Asgard's gun running and was quite excited to see it on display. This display is not mentioned in the article. The public has had a chance to see and hear about this yacht's history.
Mobster Antiquary ?
The whole story of the Ashgard's owner, Erskine Childers, should be told at this time. Englishman Childers and his Boston wife, Mollie Osgood, and their crew that included men from the Donegal Gaeltacht brought a load og guns from Germany to Howth. On their was across the North Sea, the Donegal men gave Gaeilge lessons to Mrs Childers. Childers loyalty to an All-Ireland Republic would cost him his life in the fall of 1922. He was arrested for possessing a revolver, a personal gift from Michael Collins, tried by Free State count and executed by a Free State firing squad. Let's have all the historical facts instead of the misleading version of revisionist historians.
