Chelsea Clinton remembers what it was like to be the subject of a vicious personal attack by Rush Limbaugh. In her case, however, she was only 13 at the time.
Speaking during a panel discussion at the 92 Street YMCA in New York on Wednesday Clinton had been invited to participate among a larger group of women speaking about politics.
"Sandra Fluke and I have something in common,' Clinton said, in a report that ran in the Huffington Post. 'We both have been attacked by Rush Limbaugh. She was 30, I was 13.'
Limbaugh attacked her in 1993 during an episode of a television show he hosted at the time. 'Socks is the White House cat,' Limbaugh scoffed. 'But did you know there is also a White House dog?' and he held up a picture of the 13 year old Clinton.
At the time Limbaugh claimed there had been a technical error which resulted in him showing the wrong photo. Responding to a public outcry he eventually apologized for the incident, just as he did after the public rejected his decision to call Fluke a 'slut' and a 'prostitute' for her stance on birth control.
Also attending the 92 Street YMCA event, Fluke said she was concerned that Limbaugh's personal attacks on her would have a chilling effect.
'I was worried they would think, I should sit down and shut up, because if I speak out, this is what happens. I want women to see this as an empowering moment,' she said.

Funny, when the left needs ratings they call on Rush Limbaugh, but since Chelsea Clinton now enters the fray, How does everyone on the left feel about her being given the correspondents job on NBC.I'm sure she was qualified.

There were actually 28-comments so far, not 27. All I wrote was when the Clintons moved into the White House, "Imus in the Morning" said that none of the kids would play with Chelsea, so Bill and Hillary had to tie a pork chop around her neck so the dogs would play with her.

Come on Chelsea, let's be generous. We can't expect much from a doper like Rush. I don't even know how this addict was able to stand up given the amount of oxycotin he freely admits to taking on a daily basis. His purchases would be considered on the level of that of a pusher. He should be in jail for life based on the laws.

If I remember Chelsea was always treated with kid glovea and the media and Rush Limbaugh rarely ever made comments about her. Just as the Obama daughters are left alone now. I do remember the Bush daughters being raked over the coals. I think that Chelsea would do well to stay out of this discussion because I do remember some of the things that might be dug up about her and she might not be too happy to have her name dragged through the press.

Wow...reading some of the right wingers' comments on this page has shown me exactly what happens to cowardly bullies when they become adults. I almost said "grow up," but that would indicate they'd achieved some level of maturity in some other way besides age. Not from what I can see. I was watching that show and remember it like it was yesterday. Clearly it was one of the staffers thinking they were 'funny', if Chelsea wants to play 'victim' it just shows how shallow the roots of the Clinton tree are.

It’s sad that people waste so much of their lives on people like Rush and his ilk, all he accomplishes is keeping the mud stirred up so people can’t see what is really happening. Come on IC...stop printing this type of trash. Chelsea was not attacked, neither was Ms. Fluke (an appropriate name, I'd say). Rush Limbaugh is a commentator, that's what he is paid to do...commentate. What "johhnyb" stated is true...why not print actual verbal attacks like the Palin girls had to endure and take their part? Rush never made any "vicious attack" on Chelsea. He played a clip of the Clinton's, mentioned a dog and the technical operator put up a shot of Chelsea. Rush explained it and the operator was fired. (Besides all that, if this is your idea of a "vicious attack", put up with what I've put up with).
