So many irish department stores have been taken over by the english you say woundedknee?? One department store was taking over, Roches by debenhams. You say "The English capitalists see Ireland as just a "region", like Blackpool or Surry. Dublin increasingly is indistinguishable from Manchester or Birmingham. In fact, British tourists when polled said they had no interest in vacationing in Ireland because it was "too similar" to Britain" What a load of crap you say. Ireland receives millions of tourists from Britain every year and has done for the last 20 years and more. Blackpool is a town and It's spelt Surrey is a county, both are not regions.........I bet you have never visited Manchester or Birmingham. Dublin's architecture is more like London, as is it's High Streets.

Sure hope Clerys survives. It's one of my favorite stores in Dublin. So many of the Irish department stores have been taken over by the English.
