Rush Limbaugh can't leave contraception alone. On Monday the portly pundit weighed in on allegations of a Secret Service prostitution scandal by turning the whole thing into another opportunity to talk about contraception.
According to the Huffington Post at the weekend Secret Service agents preparing for President Obama's visit to Colombia were accused of hiring prostitutes. Up to eleven agents have reportedly been placed on leave for misconduct pending further investigations.
Meanwhile on Monday Limbaugh, apparently still stung by his recent ruinous run in with contraception champion Sandra Fluke, discussed what he called the 'war on women' and asked what the 'real question' at the heart of the scandal was?
'What I wanna know is, did those Colombian hookers have to pay for their own contraception?' Limbaugh thundered. 'Or are they covered under Obama's health care plan as it extends to the Secret Service agents?'
'With the war on women being waged at full strength, how could that question not come up?' Limbaugh continued.
Limbaugh added that he had learned one prostitute charged an agent $47.
'I'm just glad to see there's still one person who's still stingy with the taxpayers' dollars, and I'm talking about that Secret Service guy who got in and out of there for forty-seven bucks,' Limbaugh snorted.\
In 2006 Limbaugh himself faced some allegations of impropriety when he was detained at a Florida airport returning from a so-called 'stag party' in the Dominican Republic, one of the red light capitals of the world. Limbaugh was reportedly carrying 29 Viagra pills in his luggage prescribed under his doctors name. There was no word of whether his prescription was covered by medical insurance.

Sean, I am pro choice not pro this man as I have no idea who he is other than a misogynist who hates women. Fionnlagh, not every woman who has an abortion is irresponsible.
BrianO | Apr 19, 2012, 03:15 PM EDT
Didn't Bill Clinton start the war on women? or was that the war with women? Maybe it was just the war with Hillary.

Fat bastard, meet Hypocrite...
NYCFiredog | Apr 19, 2012, 06:01 AM EDT
You Irish lecture are just as devoid of humor as your Yank Leftists. Here's a term to google...."Tongue in cheek". Ever heard of "Satire". What would Oscar Wilde say about you sour pusses? Here's a little more satire for ya......assuming Rush was shagging as many babes as the Gerrgetown Law Student (3 X 24), he may well have needed a hand up, hence the Viagra. And I'm quite sure Rush procured his own stash with his own $ as opposed to cashing in his Condom / Food stamps, paid for by you and me. War on women....phhhtttt. Leftists like Sandra Bernhard publicly fanttasized about Sara Palin getting gang raped by black men and her 16 year old daughter was joked about getting ganged by the NY Yankees by David Lettermen. bill Maher, misogynist he is, and celebrated by the left calls them C__T and Ho's with nothing but giggles from the audience. One thing worse than no sense of humor, is hypocrisy. The left has it in spades
seanomelb | Apr 18, 2012, 11:34 PM EDT
Aengus!!"defending the women hater Limbaugh"was my point and for two females to defend his misogynistic rantings beggars belief. I also note that anyone with a contra view to yours is an Irish lefty,no need to be so hypocritical my man.
adrienrain | Apr 18, 2012, 11:10 PM EDT
Rush's rambles about contraception reveal a complete ignorance about the female reproductive system and hormone therapy as well. The insurance cos will be happy to provide birth control to insured women - it is FAR cheaper than ANY consequence of pregnancy, which is full of doctor visits and complications. Further, many many women 9including nuns) take hormone therapy for endometriosis, ovarian cysts and a variety of other painful health conditions. No matter how many times a woman has sex, she only takes the ONE pill everyday. Ms. Fluke's testimony, as Rush completely ignored and everyone else has forgotten, addressed the necessity of hormone therapy for such problems as ovarian cysts. My granddaughter got them in her teens and will have to be on hormone therapy the rest of her life.
hollabackgurl | Apr 18, 2012, 10:10 PM EDT
The war on women is an international issue Young Aengus and it always seems to be led by portly pundits like Rush Limbaugh, who are happy to trash 'ugly' feminists but who roar with outrage when someone discusses their own appearance.
AengusOg | Apr 18, 2012, 09:51 PM EDT
Ah, Seanomelb, there you go again with your arrogant, if you have a point of view other than mine you must be a half-educated numbskull. Offering personal invective in place of a cogent rebuttal is rather unimpressive for one of your obvious intellectual stature.
AengusOg | Apr 18, 2012, 09:43 PM EDT
Is this column Central to the Irish and Irish-Americans? No, just another proof positive that this is Irish Left.
seanomelb | Apr 18, 2012, 07:33 PM EDT
Fionnlagh and Ciara defending the woman hater Limbaugh. Maybe they are not female after all,a pair of half educated numbskull's.
BrianO | Apr 18, 2012, 07:32 PM EDT
By the way if you read the article Rush's comments are making fun of the absurdity of the obama scandals and mistakes, it was a throw away line for a quick chuckle. I love the left the can give it but can't take it, not even a little bit.
PatriciaMarya | Apr 18, 2012, 06:27 PM EDT
Thank you, McNamara31, for you lucid, calm observation. As a 72-years-on the Planet Senior, I am so pleased that I have been able to hold my center and, thus, my sanity by doing my own research and staying within the Alpha state which means I am not easily influenced. It can be done, but it sure is headache-producing time with all of the anger and ignorance to muddle through.
just4fun | Apr 18, 2012, 05:43 PM EDT
Limpbaugh the penil moron who has to take Viagra to get it up is just green with envy because he wasnn't invited to the party but will use any excuse to harrass women. Wonder if he hates his mother as much, it's a shame she bought this oh so fat slob into this world. Just think if he wasn't here the news would be a whole lot better. Who gives a continentel about contraception seems only feril males that might have to pay.
Fionnlagh | Apr 18, 2012, 04:50 PM EDT
Rush is exactly RIGHT. It's just another entitlement for the do-nothings and I would just as soon not have Ireland's miserable economy (since the Democrat Party took over in '06 and Obama in '08 it's on the way to it I'm afraid). Hey ciaradexy we shouldn't have to pay for their abortions either! Maybe it would be cheaper to teach them to keep their legs locked and their zipper's up. There needs to be a price to pay for people's irresponsibility but the American taxpayer shouldn't be the one to do it. And if it's such a small price to pay why can't they pay it! Rush is Right! Get your heads screwed on straight people!
BrianO | Apr 18, 2012, 04:39 PM EDT
alisa, i'm sure you never listened.
ciaradexy | Apr 18, 2012, 04:34 PM EDT
If you dont want to pay for other peoples contraception, youre gonna end up paying for their abortions or for their welfare. Its a small price to pay.
alisaann | Apr 18, 2012, 04:25 PM EDT
get this BIG LOUD MOUTH OFF THE AIR, PLEASE.....i'm sick of seeing and hearing this fool. alisa
BrianO | Apr 18, 2012, 03:30 PM EDT
fiddlinvet, It takes two to require contraception, the 2 partners involved in the deed can split the cost. Why should the tax payer have to pay without any of the benefit.
fiddlinvet | Apr 18, 2012, 03:18 PM EDT
Just because a male chauvinist pig like Mr. Limbaugh does not want to buy condoms (OMG, that would be killing sperm, i.e. babies)does not mean he has a right to put all the onus of contraception on women.... this just as an aside.
BrianO | Apr 18, 2012, 03:08 PM EDT
geneq-miss fluke is a self proclaimed activist, it is this activism that enabled her to become an "expert". She is also not a 23 year old college student but a 30 years old women's rights activist who picked out georgetown university to fight them over their policies.
geneq | Apr 18, 2012, 02:44 PM EDT
rpmschevy -- It appears you've been drinking the Republican kool-aid. Ms Fluke's testimony had nothing to do with her own sexual activities. She discussed the cases of fellow students, including one who was denied insurance coverage for contraceptive medication medically prescribed for non-contraceptive use. As for Limbaugh's Viagra, how do you know he paid for them? The pills were confiscated from his baggage because the prescription label on the bottle was for a third party, not Limbaugh.
KeyWestConch | Apr 18, 2012, 01:51 PM EDT
wjb1tex, you're right he shouldn't have referred to Limbaugh as the portly pundit. He should have referred to him as the deaf, stoned and portly pundit.
rpmschevy | Apr 18, 2012, 01:09 PM EDT
Another Irish Central liberal blogger (yes it says staff writer, but a true journalist does not interject personal opinion, but reports. Obviously this dear Dara failed journalism course on reporting). Note I do not listen to Limbaugh, but when I read such poorly written articles such as this, sometimes one needs to post back. 1 - What does his weight have to do with anything? Dara you have a phobia for overweight people who are smarter than yourself? Did you know weight issues are often caused by certain other health issues? 2 - Unlike Fluke who thinks I and the rest of society should have to pay for her sexual activities, Limbaugh and his quantity of Viagra pills were paid by him. Yes maybe, like the rest of his through our insurance plans. I am sure he paid for the other form of protection by our good friends at Trojan, himself, no tax payer funds required. 3 - Limbaugh partying in the DR, so freaking what. It was not on the taxpayers dime. That is the big difference here. If he wants to have sex with prostitutes in a country where it is not necessarily illegal, then it is a moral issue. Report and keep your opinions out, or change your byline to note that it is an editorial. DO not act like you are reporting. Your HATE is so evident. Quit hating overweight people.
wjb1tex | Apr 18, 2012, 11:45 AM EDT
The issue is not whether women have the right to contraceptives. The question is whether we should all be paying for it. There is no question we should not be paying for condoms. Also interesting that you describe Limbaugh as the "Portly Pundit" Why throw in his weight? You are described as an IrishCentral staff writer. Perhaps if you publish a picture we may come up with a more apt description along the lines of your description of Limbaugh.

negative influences like the Bill of Rights, the U.S. Constitution, individual freedom, and opportunity to strive to be the best.

@McNamara31, I have to agree that Americans have certainly become polarized and there is too much vitriol coming from too many people - liberals and conservatives. With the 2 sides firmly entrenched, very little gets accomplished. Where are the moderates who are willing to compromise for the good of the entire country? There seems to be nothing but fear, hate, anger, and ridicule coming from too many "windbags" on both sides. I wish they'd all just Shut Up.
McNamara31 | Apr 18, 2012, 09:38 AM EDT
Karl Rove, Roger Ailes and Rush Limbaugh make up the “unholy trinity” of the GOP. Rove strategizes, Ailes produces, and Limbaugh is their official mouthpiece on a national scale. How anyone could listen to the “manufactured smear” by these three, and not see they are representing corporate interests, is beyond me. Limbaugh moves his audience with negative inference, bigotry and political paranoia. They have divided the United States by creating a perceptual “separate universe” of fear based on a calculated political strategy that Obama is to be feared and not one of us; and sadly this message affects one of the largest voting groups, senior citizens, who are the largest listeners of Limbaugh and Ailes Fox News.
