I actually agree with angrybritroll - he was extorted into bailing out the trans-national creditors of reckless international banks - disgusting stuff.
Oh poor dead Brian with his last breath he signed the next two generations of Irish youth to financial slavery and immigration such was his lust for power probably Irelands biggest traitor,he was also voted the worst minister for finance 3 times in the E.U.
Support the Real I.R.A. Support the INLA, Support the CPI .... Go Crazy !
Misery, as Dinglelady points out on Spain's Blog, has been known to love company. And while a comparison of private and public pensions might have some interest, Irish politicians would do better to point to Spain's better "bailout" terms from Europe's Central Bank et al. (when they "decide"to seek a bailout)as "deeply unfair" to Ireland, and gather some political goodwill for "sounding off" to Europe. Ireland will certainly not dwell on the fact Spain's economy is seven times larger than Ireland's and - while Madrid is in no way in a "decisive" position to bargain with Europe - is in a position to extract some "courtesy" concessions from EU bankers. Dublin, on the other hand, is in a "bite the bullet" position. It is also easier to draw funds (at any politically defensible rate) on Ireland's collateral rather than chop state pensions, under any rationale. Europe will move to bolster the integrity of its euro. Ireland must utilize its discretionary bailout funds to bolster the integrity of its sovereign collateral.
This is pretty much the smoking gun that Irish people knew existed. It's a bit like the British threatening "immediate and terrible war" to the hapless Irish negotiators in 1921. Any agreement made with bulllies in circumstances such as those has no moral standing.
