Alan Ryan, the swaggering tough guy shot dead by a masked gunman in Dublin on Monday, was an accomplished womanizer with a long line of female conquests who fell for his good looks.
According to The Sun, the 32 year old, who was under police investigation on both sides of the border for serious crimes, had a way with women.
Ryan's death notice this week paid tribute to his girlfriend Stacey and his ex-girlfriend Emma Maher, the mother of his four-year-old daughter Alannah, but many more women are reportedly inconsolable after the man who liked to call himself 'The Model' was assassinated on Monday.
Last year some of Ryan's conquests reportedly wrote to Emma, still his girlfriend at the time, to inform her of his late-night antics.
The letter read: 'Alan is in the pub every Friday, Saturday and Sunday night and every night he is there he leaves with another girl. He loves himself and knows how to pull the women.'
Soon after receiving this, Ryan and Emma split up and he began dating his new girlfriend, Stacey. Neither woman has any connection to crime, the Sun reported.
Although they parted ways, Ryan still stayed friends with his longtime ex. Mother-of-three Emma, 29, is reportedly devastated by the news of his death and is being comforted by close friends at the home she once shared with him in Ballon, County Carlow.
Ryan was ambushed and shot in the head by a masked man in Clongriffin, north Dublin, on Monday afternoon.
On Wednesday his death notice read: 'Alan beloved son of Marion and the late Peter. Dear brother of Anthony, Niamh, Dermot, Eoin and Vincent, devoted dad to Alannah. Sadly missed by his partner Stacey, sister-in-law, Alannah's mother Emma, his loving family and a large circle of friends.'

No mention of the two Sligo men who were with him-both with 32 CSM connections ? He was stopped leaving Sligo a few hours earlier by the gardai at a checkpoint in Carrick on Shannon after visiting a well known criminal drug dealer in Sligo. Check the facts guys --its not rocket science !!

Across the blogosphere there appears to be a strange phenomena of anything remotely Irish even in the most tenuous tangibility being submerged in a wave of hysterical pro-Brit vitriol and "free state, bow to the Queen in sorrow" kind of breast thumping and I'm beginning to wonder what these people are trying to achieve. Any article on Irish News sites is bombarded by an orchestrated network of faux Irish/pro-Brit/monarchy irrelevance as if Churchill didn't gas the Kurds and as if Thatcher wasn't an apologiser for apartheid and a supporter of all the fascist junta's and militia's that the Americans are at war with today (with atoken but pitiful contribution from the Brits). Look across the web, you don't see the Irish frantically panting to get to every article about the British army, British crime pages or Britih News in an attempt to berate their unsustainable debt margins, failed economic policies or to gloat about how they got the pebble throwing teenage rioters in Basra opened a can of whoopass on their millions of millions of pounds superior in technology army that was sent packing by the local militia who pleaded with the Americans to send the clowns home so they could let the real men have a go. No, you don't. But seeing as their is no end of these poisonous posters on Irish sites (usually with negligible and tenuous at best affection for the Irish)it won't hurt for you to be on the wrong end of a few home truths for a change. What's good for the goose and all that. Or as that another famous British victory against the melon chuckers of some long forgotten African outpost or something? Not sure, but am certain Walter Mitty will fill the blanks. Cheers.

Dara Kelly, PLEASE. Why not just run an article from the Enquirer for Enquiring minds? This trash is despicable. The guy is dead and so is your journalistic reputation. You should be concerned about the drug cartel that killed him! As should the Justice Minister!
warrenpoint00 | Sep 09, 2012, 12:29 PM EDT
Yes Seano old "wounded on his knees" and audrey bolt head are two of those fanatical brit/free state-let losers that espouse their nazi like bile on here.Ole ole ole ole- ole ole, to those two clowns.Losers.
seanomelb | Sep 08, 2012, 08:48 PM EDT
AS a past member of the Irish naval reserve I find idiot fuc#ed in the head wounded WoundedKnee the most objectionable reprobate I have read on this site. You know absolutely nothing moron.BTW Ryan was a well known anti drug activist even if his methods were suspect, but then we only have the reports from a biased press system to analyze.
warrenpoint00 | Sep 08, 2012, 06:11 PM EDT
audreybolton I swear you talk so much like Dan O longshanks another brit apologist poster always mouthing on here on this Irish web page. You seem to be trying desperately to promote your failed welfare debt ridden free state with your fanatical rantings. Your capt hero antics would make me assume that you may have been one of those many losers in your free statelet that sat there singing ole ole ole while your team were getting hammered 4-0 in the world cup finals. This loser like mentality could only be attributed to someone like you and your free state friends that exist in this state-let and one that you are not very proud of. Losers.
audreybolton | Sep 08, 2012, 04:56 PM EDT
I have not gone away you know. It's interesting the number of Provos on this site. Says a a lot about them really. An Ireland ruled by them would be unthinkable unless its their view of Ireland. They can't even agree among themselves. The Irish people are too sensible which is why Martin McGuinness never became President. These people live in la la land and constantly harp on "the past". Get over it lads! Its not going to happen!
seamus60 | Sep 08, 2012, 04:22 PM EDT
Rest in peace Alan. It is very sad that any true Republicans who don`t tow the SF party line are branded as Alan is in this article. We ex provies know just how it works, as we ourselves believed all the slander dished out from our leadership about other Republican non pira combatants. Shame on us for ever believing their word, on that and other subjects.
WoundedKnee | Sep 08, 2012, 04:20 PM EDT
Shuvonn, I'm an Irish citizen, I have every right to comment on Irish affairs, in particular the grotesque waste of money that is embodied in the "Irish Army". Now why do YOU waste our time with your posts here?
shuvonn | Sep 08, 2012, 03:24 PM EDT
wounded ego I wonder why you bother to read and post on an IRISH Web site when you appear to hate Ireland and Irish people so much? Lorcank it's not like audrey was on the Bin Laden raid and is breaching any kind of contract she may have signed by writing a novel about it :-)
lorcank | Sep 08, 2012, 03:17 PM EDT
Audry. Army law also forbids that you boast about you being an army member on a public forum just to try to intimidate who you are speaking to. Real name or not. I copy and pasted your comment and you said that YOU had lived through the troubles. Walter Mitty lives on!
audreybolton | Sep 08, 2012, 03:12 PM EDT
Of course I don't use my real name. Army law forbids it. Relatives of mine lived "through the troubles in the North" and growing up our family visited them often and worried for them living there. The Irish Army does not "go home for lunch" especially when serving abroad. The State needs an army to protect it from idiots such as yourselves and we make no apologies for that. End of discussion.
lorcank | Sep 08, 2012, 02:56 PM EDT
Woundedknee I was thinking the same myself because looking back over her comments she seems to contradict herself often. Plus, any serving army member would know not to use your name and post you're in the army on a public forum, and deffo not to post that your brother is special branch. Serious security breach in itself there!
WoundedKnee | Sep 08, 2012, 02:52 PM EDT
Maybe she's just lying, lorcank. That's the likeliest explanation. I would expect nothing else from some time server in the lazy bloated "Irish Army", the Army that goes home for lunch.
lorcank | Sep 08, 2012, 02:50 PM EDT
Audrey, one more thing. You said here you were "north Dublin born and bred" yet in May in another thread you claimed "I lived through "the troubles" in Northern Ireland". Which is it??
WoundedKnee | Sep 08, 2012, 02:43 PM EDT
I have no knowledge of this man Ryan, but I do know something of the "Irish Army" and I know they are an overpaid bunch of flotsam and jetsam who have no role in a modern society. These great "soldiers" even sued for damages when they saw a dead body (mental trauma, if you want the pretext). And of course lots of them screwed the Irish taxpayer for huge damages because their poor little ears had been affected by hearing gunshots. The Irish Army--the only soldiers in the world who join up but object to hearing shots or seeing dead people. The Irish have a word for them--"wasters", and the idiot Bolton is a good representative of them. If the Irish were serious about saving public expenditures they'd abolish this clowns outfit.
lorcank | Sep 08, 2012, 02:41 PM EDT
Leahkinsella if you can't even get his name right, just like Audrey couldn't I doubt you know what you're talking about. BTW are you and Audrey one and the same? Leah you were also on another thread defending the loyalists in belfast saying that you lived there also. Are you Walter Mitty?
WoundedKnee | Sep 08, 2012, 02:37 PM EDT
leahkinsella: The guy was Alan Ryan, not Alan Reilly. And you claim to be a neighbor of his???
leahkinsella | Sep 08, 2012, 02:31 PM EDT
I'm Donaghmeade resident and Alan Reilly and his like has been a thorn in our side for years. He ruined my brother-in-law's business because he would not pay protection money so we will weep no tears for him or for any who come after him. The full force of Irish law should be applied to them without mercy as they had no mercy for anyone. The "mourners" at the funeral were all photographed and they can take down their black flags now as nobody cares!!
lorcank | Sep 08, 2012, 02:08 PM EDT
Audrey you do know that abusing your power is illegal? As is "boasting" about it on a public forum. I wonder would SB be happy to see you, using your full name, tell us about your brother who is SB and you're in the IA? I'm Donaghmeade born and bred and I can tell you that residents had no problems going about their daily business as you claimed. I'm away....must put in an email to SB to tell them about you slabbering about your brother! See ya
audreybolton | Sep 08, 2012, 01:54 PM EDT
lorcank: Call me Captain Ma'm, I,m an Irish Army Officer and know a lot more then you think. I've a brother in the Garda Special Branch, he certainly is interested in the comments on this site since there seems to be a lot of Provo and gangster admirers and they all live under an illusion. BTW I am North Dublin born and bred.
lorcank | Sep 08, 2012, 01:19 PM EDT
Audreybolton You wrote "The people of Donaghmeade could not get into their homes because the Republican bully boys were trying to keep "the media" and Garda Siochana out." You obviously don't live in Donaghmeade because us residents had no problems leaving our homes or getting back into the area for that matter. I previously stated that I knew Alan, respected Alan but didn't agree with his politics. As you will see, if you read the comments no one mentioned the Irish Independent but I will say that it is a West Brit rag seeing as you put it on the table, not even the article mentioned the Indo. Audrey you've just been on a rant making up people's comments as you've gone along and rewrite Irish History as you see fit. You've made out that you live in Dublin and then talk about "failing to bomb and force us into Eire Nua". The only bombs in Dublin were loyalists ones and they weren't forcing you into Eire Nua. Quite the opposite really. I would also like to know if you personally did the survey on every Irish Citizen to see what they think about Republicans, if you have offical data to back up your claim or if you pulled that statement from where the sun doesn't shine just for the sake of a rant. Democratic government? You mustn't live in Ireland pet seeing as the Irish democracy was sold down the river a long time ago when they decided to apease Brussels instead of the will of the people.
audreybolton | Sep 08, 2012, 12:44 PM EDT
The Irish Independent is NOT A BRITISH RAG but is wholly Irish. Seanomelb and Warrenpoint, just because it is not pro-IRA and we all know what your kind think. There won't be any streets named after Alan Ryan, no monuments no memory of him after next week. The people of Ireland have had enough of his kind. HE AND HIS BULLY Boys failed to bomb and force us into their "Eire Nua". The evil Provo war against the people of Ireland did a lot of damage to the country and our reputation abroad. IrishMonkey48, if you admire Reilly, then you must be blind. Drug dealers, violent Irish Replublicans, etc. are not admired in decent Irish society. Members of my family suffered at the hands of men like Reilly and they must not be allowed to think they are the law (like the Mafia in America), society is well rid of these people, the best think would be for all of them to wipe each other out and save the Irish State the trouble. The people of Donaghmeade could not get into their homes because the Republican bully boys were trying to keep "the media" and Garda Siochana out. This must not be allowed to happen as the democratic Government, the Garda and Army are the law of the land.
warrenpoint00 | Sep 08, 2012, 11:58 AM EDT
Dara should know better. To rehash anything written by an English rag such as the sun or Irish indo about Irish republican affairs is incompetent and poor journalism on his behalf.
Ms.Gail | Sep 08, 2012, 09:39 AM EDT
Not familiar with the story or the characters, but know enough to know what using the word assassinated instead of killed portends.
lorcank | Sep 08, 2012, 03:49 AM EDT
What a disgusting piece of gutter and lazy journalism. It is well known what the "politics" of IC are and how they rever certain Irish "politicans" but this is just scraping the bottom of the barrel. Dara I ask you did you know Alan? I assume the answer is no. I knew him, I knew him well and I can tell you that a better person you couldn't find. He was a Republican to the bone and was the nicest man you could ever wish to meet. I may not have agreed 100% with his politics but there is no denying the good he did in Dublin in the fight against criminals and drug dealers. Shame on you Dara, shame on you for daring to call yourself a journalist when all you have done is rehash an article from the sun which is nothing but lies. I hope you do the same the next time the sun write some article about Gerry and Marty, and with the same amount of vigor of trying to pass off slander as the truth.
Johnnyclash | Sep 08, 2012, 02:54 AM EDT
The stories are getting worse .Jerry Springer, the Irish independent come to mind.
seanomelb | Sep 08, 2012, 12:36 AM EDT
Get a life Dara I suppose any response from dregs like the top two below warms the cockles of your heart
aloistmartin | Sep 07, 2012, 05:23 PM EDT
Did a pretty good job of making a Hysterical Mess of M. McGuinness as well ! :):):)
Porickseantuny | Sep 07, 2012, 11:54 AM EDT
Well, he certainly wasn't a Pierce Brosnan look a like. Conclusion: a few drinks make Irish women blind.
Porickseantuny | Sep 07, 2012, 11:50 AM EDT
Apparently there are a lot of blind Irish women.
irismonkey48 | Sep 07, 2012, 11:40 AM EDT
Shame on the news media for throwing mud on a man that many admired. The news media could not have sunk any lower.
thetint | Sep 07, 2012, 11:23 AM EDT
Shame on IrishCentral using a comic like the Sun as a basis for a story. The Sun is notorious for its fabrications
WoundedKnee | Sep 07, 2012, 10:05 AM EDT
What gutter "journalism". The guy was popular with women. So what? Ironic to see Irish Central, the site that promotes abortion, now getting all puritannical about some dead guy's love life. Hypocrites.
