Data released from the Central Statistics Office’s April 2011 survey of Ireland show that the number of Catholics in Ireland is at a record-setting high. The data also shows that Ireland is becoming increasingly diverse.

Brutal sex attacker avoids jail, instead fined $20,000

A 29-year-old Dublin man will be free after committing sexual crimes against a 17-year-old girl in Dublin as long as he pays $20,000. The final sentencing for his crimes has many concerned that Ireland’s guidelines for punishment of such crimes are in need of revision.

Northern Ireland assembly to meet Marie Stopes to ensure Belfast abortions comply with law - VIDEO

The Stormont Justice Committee has invited representatives from Marie Stopes in Belfast to explain how they will carry out abortions in their clinic in compliance with Northern Ireland law. The clinic opened its door for the first time on Thursday with 400 protesters lining the street outside.

Supreme Court again orders halt on Boston College handing over IRA interviews

The Supreme Court has again blocked Boston College from handing over tapes featuring interviews with convicted IRA car bomber Delours Price to the Northern Irish Police, the Boston Herald reported today. This will be the last stay granted by the Supreme Court and will last until November 16th.

A man from County Louth has pleaded not guilty to membership of an unlawful organization styling itself on the Irish Republican Army (IRA). He told the gardai (Irish police) that being involved in the IRA would be “stupid” and would lead to “a one-way ticket to death or jail.”
