This book is lovingly dedicated to my son, Max George, whose great-grand-father Edward Conway immigrated to America in 1900 at the age of 18. Arriving at Ellis Island from Ballina, Ireland, he had two dollars in his pocket and listed his occupation as "laborer."

Catch the latest behind-the-scenes Irish celebrity gossip. See what is going on with stars like Colin Farrell, who could fill an Irish celebrity gossip page all by himself. As with any good gossip roundup, Irish celebrity gossip includes topics such as sex tapes, drug rehab and scandalous sex propositions. And when it comes to Irish gossip, Farrell delivers on all three fronts. In 2005 alone, Farrell sued over a sex tape, went into rehab and propositioned a woman 42 years older than him. In July of that year, Farrell filed a lawsuit suing his former girlfriend, a Playboy model, and several others over the unauthorized public distribution of a 14-minute sex tape that Farrell made with the model two years earlier. Later that year, Farrell voluntarily checked into a rehabilitation treatment center for addictions to recreational drugs and painkiller. Farrell’s publicist stated that Farrell had started taking painkillers due to a back injury. Farrell also made the Irish gossip pages when Dame Eileen Atkins, aged 70, said that a big film star had spent hours propositioning her for sex, and that star turned out to be Farrell. Another actor who is no stranger to Irish celebrity gossip pages is Jonathan Rhys Meyers. The star of Showtime’s “The Tudors” went into rehab in 2005 for alcohol abuse. He has been back to rehab twice since then. Rhys Meyers also turned up in Irish gossip pages when he was romantically linked to actress Toni Collette and models Cha cha Seigne and Lisa Butcher. Singer Sinead O’Connor dominated Irish celebrity gossip pages in 1992 when she tore up a picture of Pope John Paul II during a live performance on “Saturday Night Live.” O’Connor also made headlines in Irish gossip circles in 2007 when she went on “The Oprah Winfrey Show” and revealed that she had been diagnosed with bipolar disorder four years earlier and that she had once tried to kill herself. Cillian Murphy, however, does not give Irish celebrity gossip hounds too much to go on. He does not like to talk about his personal life and does not have a stylist, publicist or entourage. Aside from marrying his longtime girlfiend in 2004, Murphy has not give the Irish gossip pages much to write about.
