This was a common dinner for the newly arrived Irish in America. The reason? It was food for the poor, as it was the least expensive cut of meat, and the most common of vegetables. We have come a long way.
I think it sounds fantastic! Let's eat!
i have heard that corned beef is a truly american concoction. in ireland they have either pork or chicken. corn beef is too common to have on such an important day. that being said, i still love it. bring it on.
I was told my Irish friend from Ireland that bacon is what they have on St. Patricks day and corned beef & cabbage is an American thing.
