An Irish potato diet may well be what you need, perhaps to start the year off to drop that extra weight you have been dragging around since Thanksgiving.
Chris Voigt the head of the Washington State Potato Commission lost 21 pounds in two months and dropped his cholesterol by 60 points on a potato only diet. He and his doctor were astonished. He did it to prove to health officials in the state that potatoes wee rich in all the right kind of nutrients and should not be banned from school meals
The spud loving Irish may prefer this diet to any other. Here is what needs to be done as outlined in ehow.com
1. Eat only potatoes, morning, noon and night. Eat them baked, mashed, steamed, roasted, and juiced, but never fried.
2. Never add milk or butter . use Chives, mint, cumin, turmeric, fennel, caraway, paprika, dill, nutmeg, rosemary and fresh garlic. Use potato juice or herbal teas to aid in making mashed potatoes.
3. Very important -- Leave the skins on the potatoes. The skins account for over 75% of the potato's mineral value.
4. Drink plenty of water and herbal teas.
And that is it-- simple really.

Agree with all the previous posters. @bogsidebunny, thanks for the info on "potato contraception." Hmm - pill or potato? Enjoyed your humorous post. LOL

Well, sounds good - BUT - just *last* week, Irish Central had a report listing about the serious impact via potatoes in terms of breast cancer. In other words, what is one to believe? This would be of special impact towards women-s health. In terms of men, there is some evidence that the cause of prostate cancer is 'related' to that breast disease. I other words, what is one to believe and follow when contradictory 'deadly' information is give from the same source???????

By the way, dribble some extra virgin cold pressed olive oil on boiled potatoes. Salt a bit. Delicious and so much healthier than butter or butter substitutes.

Most mono-diets work. As for the potato diet or the Indian Kitcheri diet, you can add 1-2 glasses of whey isolate protein a day. Potato and dairy really do contain the full set of nutrients you need, but the very best dairy is whey isolate.

I think if you'd eat only 1 of any food for 2 months your weight would drop. It'll be interesting to see what happens to him when he starts adding other foods to his diet. This is too boring a diet for the average person.

I use Organic Earth Balance because it doesn't contain trans fats and very little saturated fats, instead of butter.
