A recent study released by the Irish Brewers Association shows that Irish downed fewer pints in 2011 and the demand of Irish beer abroad is on the rise.
According to TheJournal.ie, the Irish public consumed 694 million pints of beer, in 2011.
That number was down on the previous year’s total by some 2 percent.
Stout accounted for about one-third of that total consumption, while ale made up 6 percent and lager was the most consumed beer with 61 percent according to Just Drinks.
The number of full-time employees in the Irish beer industry in 2011 was 1,584, up from 1,441 in 2010.

I hate these articles associating the Irish with alcohol all the time.So we like beer.Ireland does not consume the most alcohol in the world. Not by a long shot. The French drink more liters of wine per capita than the Irish drink liters of beer. The USA is away down the list in drinking alcohol and why wouldn't they be.The United States has the highest levels of cocaine and marijuana use in the world. They are too stoned to drink beer.Eastern Europe drink vodka by pints. And those countries in the middle east who don't drink alcohol at all get their rocks off by going to a good public execution. It's all a matter of preference.

So how do you know its the Irish drinking this beer? The Poles like a pint too as do the Swedes and the Germans. Did you ask every drinker their nationality?

Hmmm, strong correlation between emigration and demand for Irish beer abroad, ya think?
