Saoirse Ronan

Saoirse Ronan has added to her growing list of new film projects by signing on for the film adaptation of Vera Brittain’s 1933 World War I memoir ‘Testament of Youth.’

RTE News reports that the Carlow native has signed on for the new period drama. The plot of the new film, which has been adapted from the book version by Juliette Towhidi, traces Brittain's experiences as a disillusioned nurse during the war and the beginning of her career as a journalist and pacifist.

This isn’t Ronan’s first foray into period pieces - the young starlet was nominated for an Oscar for her role in 2007’s ‘Atonement,’ which also took place during European wartime.

‘Testament of Youth,’ which will be backed by ‘Harry Potter’ producer David Heyman, joins Ronan’s other anticipated projects ‘Byzantium,’ ‘The Order of Seven’ and ‘Noah.’

Next year, Ronan will be starring in the Stephenie Meyer, author of the ‘Twilight’ series, film adaptation of ‘The Host.’
