First look - Baz Luhrman’s “Great Gatsby” starring Carey Mulligan and Leonardo DiCaprio - VIDEO
Jay Z and Kanye West feature in ‘Great Gatsby’ trailer
After months of hearing snippets of news on Baz Luhrman’s “The Great Gatsby,” we’re finally getting a look at it in all its splendour. We would expect no less from the director who brought us “Romeo and Juliet” and “Moulin Rouge”.
The adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s “Great Gatsby” is set in New York in 1922, when jazz was booming. However, in spite of the popularity of jazz at the time, Luhrman has used the tune “No Church in the Wild” by Kanye West and Jay-Z, to add intensity to the trailer.
The movie, which looks visually stunning, is set to be released in December 2012.
Considering the cast, it’s hard to see where the movie can go wrong. Leonardo DiCaprio stars as Gatsby, alongside Tobey Maguire and Carey Mulligan.
Lara Spencer, anchor on "Good Morning America", said the “sizzling chemistry” and “wow, the sexual energy” between DiCaprio and Mulligan is “palpable”.
We can’t argue with that.
