Ever since encountering Katie Scarlett O'Hara onscreen in "Gone with the Wind," Meghan Sweeney has been interested in any and all Irish-related films and characters. Her blog is from the perspective of a casual movie watcher (as long as four Netflix movies a week counts as casual...), and is for anyone interested in Irish and Irish-American film and actors.

'Twilight' star Robert Pattinson dying to play Van Morrison
The latest Hollywood obsession, "Twilight's" Robert Pattinson, is begging movie bosses to cast him as legendary Irish musician Van Morrison in a biopic of his favorite artist.

There isn't any such film in the works, but Pattinson is filing is request way ahead of time, perhaps so casting directors keep him in mind.

The 22-year-old actor, who plays the lead vampire, the glittery Edward Cullen, in the hit film "Twilight," told MovieFone: "I'd love to play Van Morrison, but I doubt I would get the part."

Apparently the pale, disheveled-looking teen idol, who's currently filming the latest installment in the "Twilight" series, "New Moon," alongside Kristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning, has some confidence issues in general. He recently told the press that he wasn't good looking enough to play Edward Cullen, and the character was too "perfect" for him to portray.

I'm not really at liberty to weigh in here - I've never seen "Twilight," and I hardly think a blood-sucking vampire could be "perfect," anyhow.

I just recently rented "Twilight" and I must admit that I was pleasantly surprised. While the movie is about vampires, it is more a love story than horror movie. That is why I think it is so popular with both sexes. The special effects used to show the powers of the vampires was first rate. I am actually thinking about going to see the next installment "New Moon", the trailer has an interesting twist to the storyline and a great special effect.

I Love his personality. The fact that he is far from being a self-centered p r i c k is the most amazing thing for a celebrity. You don't come across that much. He just wants to be normal, Which is wonderful.
