Ever since encountering Katie Scarlett O'Hara onscreen in "Gone with the Wind," Meghan Sweeney has been interested in any and all Irish-related films and characters. Her blog is from the perspective of a casual movie watcher (as long as four Netflix movies a week counts as casual...), and is for anyone interested in Irish and Irish-American film and actors.

Who else is pumped to see U2?!
I've heard rumblings that U2's 360 Tour isn't selling as well as the band had hoped, but forget the haters - I can't WAIT to see the Irish megaband this September at Giant's Stadium.

I've never seen U2 live, so I'm expecting this event will be quite the experience for a young Irish-American who's listened to their songs since practically birth.

Anyone out there see the band in the 80s? Obviously, I'd ideally have liked to see U2 in their prime; if I could time travel to the days of "War" or "The Joshua Tree," and stand in line for concert tickets back then, I most certainly would.

But I was just learning to walk and talk at that point, so I'm not sure I would have enjoyed it so much.

Anyway, for you U2 fans (or non-fans) out there: are they still as thrilling live these days as they were back then? Do I have a great concert to look forward to, or will it be as painful as watching Mick Jagger on today's stage?

I am so pumped to see U2 in September can't wait. I have seen them so many times I just gave up counting. For me my favorite tours where the Rattle and Hum Tour, and when they tour for the Amnesty International concerts. Now I have seen them on subsequent tours, but those where my favorites (not to mention the fact that I saw them several times during both tours that could be why...LOL).

The great thing about Bono is his Rock voice is so so smooth and still gutteral enough to rock the $#% out. Lotta rockers use a lotta falsetto or throaty raspy quality (Aoerosmith) and blow out by their 40's. Not Bono, no sir. His voice is like sunshine coming down on mother F#%@ing sugar cane!!!

I saw U2 during the Joshua Tree tour and I was disappointed. Bono was at the height of his preaching then. And the band was about 45 minutes late - they took their fans for granted. Saw them again a decade later on the PopMart tour and thought they were great. Both times in Dublin.

surprised at that, yank.. but I guess it makes sense that as they matured, they became more responsible...

Sarah, where are you seeing them? And do they always play lots of classics at their more recent concerts?

fuerte - as a Jersey native, it's pretty shameful I've never seen the Boss live. next on the list!
