SEE CHELSEA CLINTON'S WEDDING ALBUM - HERE
Besides the high security and lack of celebrity sightings that went on in Rhinebeck, New York at the Chelsea Clinton and Marc Mezinksy’s wedding the center of attention was of course Chelsea Clinton’s dress (or rather dresses).
A close family friend of the Clinton’s, Vera Wang, created two custom designs for Chelsea’s special day. The first her wedding gown and the second a party dress for the wedding reception. Wang was present at the wedding to see her creation in action.
Wang also issued a statement that read “It was an honor and a privilege to dress Chelsea on her wedding day. I have watched her grow into a beautiful, grounded, and caring young woman. She radiated joy, youth, and happiness. I wish Chelsea and Marc a long, happy and healthy life together."
Her joy was certainly visible from the beautiful photos that the Clinton’s circulated shortly after the ceremony on Saturday, along with a brief statement.
Chelsea looked undeniably like her mother as she walked down the aisle with her, visibly emotional father. The gown was a strapless, raw-edged laser cut swirling silk organza Vera Wang ball skirt and train, with a silk tulle diagonally draped bodice accented by an embellished belt. She complimented the outfit with a bouquet of white roses.
Although Wang has not commented on the price of the gown the New York Times has speculated that it cost $20,000.
For the reception at the Astor Courts Chelsea changed into an ivory silk tulle Grecian dress with a crisscross back and a black grosgrain belt.
Her bridesmaids were also dressed by Vera Wang in strapless lavender chiffon gowns.
Marc’s tux was a gift from Christopher Bailey a designer with Burberry and a close friend of the couple. He also threw in the ties for Bill and Marc’s groomsmen. Bailey also attended the ceremony.
The MOTB (Mother-of-the-Bride) as she has been referring to herself, Hilary, wore a plum-coloured gown by Oscar de la Renta.
