A good aul Irish seisiun
A good aul Irish seisiun

Though Labor Day has passed, Irish festivals are still on tap for September and the cooler weather as much of the music shifts to indoor venues.  Here’s a look at some things to keep in mind.

The Lunasa Light lads (Cillian Vallely and Kevin Crawford) have another tour to promote their excellent duet recording "On Common Ground" upcoming, and they will be accompanied by the newlywed guitarist Ted Davis (he married fiddler Tina Lech in May).

It begins Friday, September 11 at the Lyceum in Alexandria, Virginia (8 p.m.), then Baltimore the following night at the Creative Alliance at the Patterson, moving onto Biglerville, Pennsylvania on the 13th at 3 p.m. at the Stone Jug Concert Series.

The Tour resumes on Thursday, September 17 (8 p.m.) in Voorhees, New Jersey (856-795-7637), then East Haven, Connecticut at the Irish American Community Center (John O’Donovan, 203-281-3563), then Pearl River on the 18th at a house concert at 8 p.m. (Rose Flanagan at 845-735-1743).

Condolences also to the Clare flute player Crawford whose father passed away recently in Birmingham, England.

On Wednesday, September 16 Dunne’s Pub in White Plains will celebrate Commodore John Barry Day at the regular session hosted by fiddler Brian Conway

Appropriately enough Brian’s guest will be Dan Milner, the singer with store of sea shantys from his recent CD "Irish Pirate Ballads and Other Songs of the Sea." He will be piped onboard at 7:30 p.m.  Dunne’s is at 15 Shapham Place. Call 914-421-1451.

Singers Len Graham and Brian O’hAirt have added on a Manhattan concert (free admission) on Thursday, September 10 at 7 p.m. at the Borough of Manhattan Community College (199 Chambers Street) organized by Jerry Kerlin (914-323-5256). They close their tour at Monmouth University in West Long Branch, New Jersey on Friday the 18th at 7:30 p.m. at the Lauren K. Woods Theatre (732-571-3419).
