Uma Thurman has for the first time spoken publicly about mourning the loss of her friend, Irish actor Liam Neeson’s late wife Natasha Richardson.

The “Kill Bill” actress opened up in an interview with Harper’s Bazaar U.K., explaining how she misses being a “passenger” in Richardson’s life.

“She (Natasha) would have a plan on arrival anywhere and would be carving the best out of life and every situation and every person,” she said.

“She wasn’t as much a passenger as I am, which made us great companions in life…because every driver needs a passenger…and every passenger needs a driver. So it’s a big loss in my life.”

The 39-year-old actress went on to say that Richardson’s sudden death after a skiing accident in March has inspired her to live life to the fullest.

“Isn’t life amazing?” she told the magazine. “Isn’t life full of surprises? When it comes to things like marriage, you just never know. I find that growing up has been all about realizing that life gets more serious, and that it’s also really important to increase your sense of humor.”

Thurman was married to actor Ethan Hawke, with whom she has two children, and will soon wed British tycoon Arki Busson in a lavish London wedding.
