U2 fails to make NME Top 50 albums of the decade

No Irish bands need apply for best of the best (Brits) list

U2 might be storming the world with "No Line on the Horizon" and their 360 Tour but the Irish band have failed to crack the Top 50 albums of the decade.

The British rock bible NME revealed their Top 50 Monday and U2 are nowhere to be seen.

American rockers, The Strokes, topped the charts with their 2001 debut "Is This It."

U2 released three albums since 2000; "All That You Can't Leave Behind," (2000); "How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb," (2004) and "No Line on the Horizon," (2009).

However, not one of the three albums were rated good enough to make the Top 50.

The votes came from record producers, label bosses and musicians, including members of Radiohead and Arctic Monkeys.

Maybe U2 need to think about putting someone on the judging panel next year seeing as both bands got the nod along with the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, The Libertines, The White Stripes, Arcade Fire and The Streets.

There was more bad news for U2 this week with the revelation that Dublin City Council fined them €37,000 ($55,000) for breaching noise regulations with their 360 Tour.

An investigation found the band went over the 75 decibel level 12 times during the three concerts at Croke Park.

Bono ought to shag the New York Times pieces and concentrate on putting together a decent album.

I love U2,always have always will.No matter what they write and make in music its going to be good,there all not going to be hits but there going to be number one to there fans..

I love U2, have done for decades but "No Line on the Horizon" is not their best ever. Actually looking at the list, about 1/2 half of the bands are virtually unheard of in the US. Shame when there is a lot of good music in there!!!

Amazing. "No Line on the Horizon" didn't do that much for me, but I still enjoy "How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb." Crazy that folks like the Yeah, Yeah Yeahs got in.
