If you're including the 1970's, don't forget that wonderful "Ryan's Daughter", filmed in Dingle, and my favorite, "Excalibur", filmed in Meath and other Irish locations, I believe!

i don't know what is so surprising...if you want beautiful scenery and realistic historical buildings, you find them in Ireland...where else would they be?
