Tom Hanks to produce John F Kennedy assassination drama “Parkland”
Movie, as yet with no cast, will follow “a wide range” of characters in the lead up to the president’s assassination
Playtone company, headed up by Tom Hanks and Gary Goetzman, are in the works to produce “Parkland” an upcoming indie drama about the assassination of the much loved Irish American former president of the United States John F Kennedy.
The movie, chronicling the events leading up to JFK’s assassination in Dallas in 1963 and Abraham Zapruder’s famous documentation of the event, reports Variety.
The title of the movie refers to the Parkland Memorial Hospital, where Kennedy was brought and was later pronounced dead. His assassin, Lee Harvey Oswald, died at Parkland two days later. Years later, Oswald's killer, Jack Ruby, also died there.
According to Variety the movie “will be an ensemble film that explores the impact the assassination had on a wide range of characters in and around Dallas on that fateful day, including an FBI agent, a young doctor, a reporter, several Secret Service agents, Kennedy's staff, Oswald's older brother, Jackie Kennedy and Zapruder.”
