Susan Boyle

Susan Boyle will sing for Pope Benedict at a massive outdoor mass in Glasgow later this year in September.

Catholic Church leaders have asked the 'Britain's Got Talent' star to perform before a crowd of 150,000.

A senior church source stated: "Susan has agreed to sing and everyone is delighted. It is a done deal.

"There are still some of the finer details to be ironed out but it has been approved by the highest echelons in the Vatican.

"Susan has described it as a dream come true and it will be an extra attraction for everyone attending."

A spokesman for the Catholic Church stated: "We would be delighted if Susan Boyle was to perform on the day at Bellahouston Park. She is top of our wish list."

Pope Benedict XVI will visit Edinburgh and Glasgow at the start of his four-day tour of the UK from September 16-19.

It is now nearly thirty years since the last papal visit to Scotland, when Pope John Paul II celebrated mass at Bellahouston Park on June 1, 1982, in front of 300,000 worshippers.

Susan's album 'I Dreamed a Dream' has sold over ten million copies. The Catholic Celtic supporter has described the notion of singing for the pope as one of the most exciting moments of her life.

Susan recently sang Ave Maria at Cardinal O'Connor's church, and he said it would be lovely if Susan can sing the same song for the Pope.
Can you believe it, Susan? A dream/wish come true... I do hope that EWTN will brodcast it.
I think it's a wonderful. Susan said she would love to sing for the Pope and now it seems she will. I'm very happy for her. I hope it will be televised for the people of the UK.
As it should be. Congratulations to the Vatican for an excellent perfect choice. I hope it will be televised worldwide.
Susan definitely has the big event epic voice and the global following. She would be perfect for this. She has proven to be a very consistent live performer and I am sure this would be the high point of her life. It wouldn't hurt that, if televised, the ratings would be astronomical. Hoping for the Olympics and World Cup in the future.
Wonderful. Now the Queen has to have a command performance by Susan Boyle. She is simply the best there is.
Happy for her.
As we have learned in the past year,Susan's faith seems to keep her grounded. This request by the catholic church, may be to Susan, her greatest prize of all and the audience may triple because of Susan's performance. I think Pope Benedict should feel blessed that Susan will be performing.
Maybe they'll fall in love.
Where will she sing first - the White House or the Buck House?
"Today the Pope"......."Tomorrow the Queen of England." Take that critics!
