Susan Boyle lives in fear of being dropped by Sony

QVC launch: Susan Boyle set to launch 'I Dreamed a Dream' on mega U.S. shopping channel on Nov. 4

Susan Boyle lives in mortal fear of being dropped by Simon Cowell's company Syco and her record label Sony it has been revealed.

A reporter for the Guardian Newspaper did an in depth piece that also claims that producers of 'Britain’s Got talent' deliberately target vulnerable contestants, who have had previous mental problems.

The reporter, Carole Cadwalladr,  knocked on Susan's front door in Blackburn, Scotland where she lives and met a panicky Susan Boyle and she reports the exchange as follows:

"Do Syco know you're here?" she asks when I tell her who I am. Well, sort of, I say. They've said that I can't interview you, but I just wondered if you'd have a cup of tea with me. Just a five-minute chat. "I can't do anything without their permission," she says and looks slightly panicked.

"I can't say anything without their permission. So sorry. Goodbye now. Goodbye."

A close friend tells the newspaper she is terrified of being dropped by her label "She's terrified of it. She's always saying, 'What if they drop me? What if they decide to drop me?' And I say, 'They're not going to do that, you're earning them so much money.' But she thinks that as quickly as it came, it all might go again."

Susan is said to be haunted by what happened to Leon Jackson, a winner of the “X factor,” another Cowell show,  who was dropped by Simon Cowell soon after his success.

Jackson told the newspaper nobody from Simon Cowell's company told him at the time

"It felt like the end of the world at the time. It was pretty devastating. I don't even know if I was dropped … Well, nobody from Syco ever rang me to tell me. I only ever read about in the Sun. That's how I found out."
Susan is said to be still worried about money all the time despite her great wealth."

One of her close friends says "she still worries about the gas bill. I say, 'Susan, you don't have to worry about that now. You've got money!' But you know, I think she's always going to worry about paying her bills. She's had years of worrying about money and I think it's just in her now."

A local barman reports she is still very worried about money "She came in and took this huge pile of money out of her bag and began sorting it into piles on the table. And then picking it up and counting it out, right in front of everybody. I went and rang her friend and told her to get down there quick and pick her up."

Her sister Mary says: "In lots of ways, it's brilliant, it's made her life better. She's proved herself. But we do worry that someone will come along and try to take advantage of her."

In depth interview? About as "in depth" as a child's wading pool. What has happened to "journalism? One writer publishes a story, full of inaccuracies and every other "journalist" copies it for their paper without checking any facts. So now the little white lies are published all over the world and gullible readers think they know the truth. Sad commentary on the world at large.
For anyone interested in reading the truth about Susan Boyle, please read "Susan Boyle: A Year of Platinum and Gold" or go to the Official Susan Boyle site. Sony did not get where they are by being stupid. The chances of their dropping the artist who outsold every female debut artist ever, has already sold almost 10 million albums in a little over six months, and is as we speak beginning to record her second album are less than zero.
The reporter of the article you are rehashing seemed to be unaware of the numerous concerts all over Europe, Japan, America, TV, etc. that Susan has done since her tremendously successful debut album...jetting back and forth incessantly. Now, among other things, busy recording an already gigantically pre-ordered 2nd album (UK only available so far). They made it sound (untruthfully) as if Susan isn't doing much singing at present! Tired of media lies. Agree, "Where is Niall?"
if susan boyle had been in the mood for a 5 minute chat she would have had that chat- i don't believe she will hold back her own feelings of what she has the time and inkling for. she is a world star- she is a performer for her own fame and she is only using syco for marketing- but she has others who would gladly take her on- she has captured the hearts of the world and doesn't need to worry about her place in the making of music now.
Where in this article do you address the ridiculous, misleading headline? You ask any artist, be it actor, singer, musician, etc., and they will tell you they think they are only as good as their last performance, song, role. This headline creates a misconception of Susan Boyle and you know it.
I enjoyed her latest CD. It makes a great coaster.
Susan Boyle is a LADY , she may not have a title. But she is one of the best women. Why don't you ever tell the world about how she is a wonderful caring person and stop looking for ways to cash in on Susan. Who the HELL is this Niall person anyway. Just another person trying to grab some fame from talkind about Susan Boyle.
Would you please write a positive article about Susan, instead of this recycled garbage. Sony would be crazy to drop Susan Boyle. BYW, where is Niall O'Dowd? I really miss his articles concerning Susan.
Well said, sugarpuddin, Fugate05 and others!!! Susan need never fear her future. Her loyal fans will never desert her and will continue to support her unconditionally! This article is 'much ado about nothing'. EVERYONE fears the loss of his/her job during these bad, economic times ... even a SONY exec or this reporter!
Susan, you shouldn't fear being dropped by Sony. It is the other way around. Sony is afraid you might drop them for another record Co. They are surely lined up if you should decide to leave Sony. And next time around you should get a much better deal on your percentage of royalties. You have an unprecedented fan base of millions that no record Co can ignore. And WE won't ever desert you.
Of course, Susan should trust the press. They have been so honest and truthful in their reporting on her. And this idiot tells her that her management has refused to grant her an interview and she thinks Susan will grant her a 5 minute "chat" over tea! Come on...
Anyone who has achieved fame as quickly as Susan did would naturally fear that the rug could be pulled out under her feet with equal speed. You don't have to a mental case to feel insecure in a business that can be fickle and downright cruel at times. One can only hope that Simon and company will step up to the plate and treat this woman with integrity and respect. Her fans are watching.
Without Simon Cowel I would never have the chance to enjoy unique singer Susan Boyle. Without British got talent Susan's life would be the same miserable as it was for many years. Lonely, bullying neighbours and fear not to be able to pay her bills. We have to say thank you, Simon for changing the life of Susan and us millions of her fans.
