@rainbow[devil's]brew -- And you would know that 'non-catholic teachers are best' exactly how??? How many non-catholic schools or universities can you name, and have you attended; and out of those, how many can you recommend? -- Oral Roberts U? Umm yeah, a fantastic number of Nobel Prize scientists and accomplished people have come out of that one... for sure! -- Liberty-fundy U? Absolutely! An encyclopedic volume would not be enough to list all of the names of distinguished people who have graduated from that one too! Brigham Young? Indubitably! The graduates from that one know a thing or two about tithing, cultic learning and missioning. But they also know the supreme value of a buck! Mormons are unquestionably the most materialistic and ostentatious of all prods. In fact their cult teaches that material wealth is a sign of their god's (who lives in the planet Kolob) blessings and favor. --- Oh but wait... you might be thinking of European universities of renoun. Don't forget that Oxford, Cambridge and the Sorbonne were originally founded by Catholics! -- As for universities in the US, like Harvard, Yale, Princeton, etc... while those might have been conceived by prods, at this point there is not a trace of those [as people of your intellectual caliber would say] "religins" to be found there. --- At some point someone has to disabuse people like you of the notion that had it not been for Catholics, those of you who insist on calling yourselves 'Christians' --even after fragmenting the ONLY Church Christ founded-- would probably still be walking in circles around Stonehenge, or engaged in druidism. Worse yet, you'd be ripping the still beating heart out of other humans to please your gods because, if it had been left to prods the book you base your fragmented beliefs in would not exist, since no two of you can agree in the meaning of a single verse... let alone in sitting down to put together an entire book!

I sure hope she can take the non-catholic course and get even a better education. The non-catholic teachers are best as they teach all the worlds religins not just one.
But as others have said out of one cult and into anotehr cult.
I wonder if catholics know they are not christians but wannabe christians. Gotta love your neighbor but they don't

Johnny Mac: I agree that Lady Gaga is an odd one to list as a famous alum of the school.
CitizenWhy: Interesting info about Catholic schools in Manhattan.
oaklongan: I have heard the same thing. Some of the older Fransican priests in the Southwest came from Ohio. I recall their conversations about how "Tommy-boy" was doing well in the films (that was when 'Top Gun' had come out). Apparently he was an altar boy when he was in high school.

Too bad she isn't sending Suri to a normal Catholic school in NYC. Manhattan Catholic schools have a really diverse propulation, and few rich kids, if any.

Apparently Tom Cruise seriously considered becoming a Catholic priest!! and studied for it before becoming a scientologist via his first wife, Mimi Rogers, a Mensa member, who later left scientology. The facts concerning L Ron Hubbard, scientology/dianetics 'founder' documented in two books that he was a member of aleister crowley's U.S. group in Pasadena, California. He was a con-man, having absconded with the girlfriend and thousands from his close-friend and co-crowley member Jack Parson. When I first heard about Dianetics in my early 20's, in perusing the huge book, laughed and thought what a crock! Hubbard is a lousy science-fiction writer. Hubbard became an addict to medications. Scientology, the WORST of bogus-'religious' control systems. There are others. Public schools would be well advised to teach how these methods are used by tent-revivalists, politicians, lawyers in courtrooms, and music (good, bad and indifferent) on the emotions and minds of humans, and other lifeforms. Enlightening and appalling.

And now, as the Monty Python players would say,for something compleately different...Would the Margaret O'Brien be the Margaret O'Brien who starred in Little Women, with June Allyson?

If you would have had a good Catholic education you would have known my dear boy that alumnae would be the proper form of address when referring to the feminine gender graduates of an educational institution. Go hoist a pint and load your truck.

Gloria Vanderbilt hasn't passed; however, her mother, Gloria Morgan Vanderbilt is deceased and that is the alumna they are referring to in the article.

All in favor of Catholic education for kids, we should do it for the adults who have fallen so far away from their religion. Shame, They still wants to be buried by the Church though.

I agree get those two off the list but sure there were thousands more to live normal lives. She needs some kind of protection and this is what she considers her best option. Not easy to get out of a cult especially this one and with that kind of money and celebrity status with Tom Cruise. Needs all the help she can get.

Oh thats just peachy. Just what every father wants as a role model for his daughter - Lady Gaga and Paris Hilton? Paris - a talentless loose woman that makes a sex tape of herself and partners, and Lady Gaga - the Queen Mother to freakish fans. Why would the school list these two disgraces as an example of their "alumni"?

Clearly her mother has not broken free of the cult mentality- just hopped from one patriarchal mind control cult to another.
