Sneak Peek: Daniel Day- Lewis as Abraham Lincoln in Steven Spielberg tipped biopic
Day-Lewis bears “uncanny” resemblance - VIDEO
A photo of Daniel Day-Lewis bearing an uncanny resemblance to Abraham Lincoln, whom he’ll be playing in Steven Spielberg’s latest biopic ‘Lincoln’, was snapped recently in Virginia where the film is shooting. Despite not donning the iconic Lincoln top-hat, the resemblance between him and the 16th US President is unmistakable.
It’s no surprise that even while not on set, Day-Lewis still appears to be in character. The 54 year old actor is famous for his method acting, and will sometimes remain in character for the duration of the filming, whether on-set or not.

His dedication comes with a certain amount of selectivity, but often pays off with high acclaim and award. Day-Lewis has only appeared in ten movies since 1989, but still remains a household name. Along with a slew of other awards, he has won two Oscars for his roles in ‘My Left Foot,’ and ‘There Will be Blood’ and was nominated for his parts in ‘In the Name of the Father’ and ‘Gangs of New York’.
The Daily Mail reports that some fans are wary of Day-Lewis undertaking the role of one of America’s most beloved presidents because he is not American. However, if his track record and the recent photo of the uncanny comparison to Lincoln serve as any proof, Day-Lewis won’t disappoint.
Alongside Day-Lewis in the upcoming Spielberg flick are Sally Field, Jonathan Gordon-Levitt, Tommy Lee Jones and John Hawkes. The film is slotted for release in 2012.
