Sinead O’Connor has said she is tired of being labeled “crazy”.

“I am tired of all this 'sinead is crazy' crap. Its a disgrace,” she said in a recent blog post on her website.

The talented Irish singer made her remarks when explaining why she had decided to pull out of an appearance on Ireland’s most popular late night talk show, RTÉ’s “The Late Late Show”.

The 44-year-old singer announced on Tuesday she would not be appearing on the first show of the new season as planned. Initially she said she would not discuss why she was decided to pul out, however yesterday she posted a blog entry on her website explaining it was due to a disagreement with a member of the show’s production team.

She described questions asked by the male researcher as “patronizing, insulting and disrespectful”.

“I value myself too much to allow myself to be so disrespected, patronized, and treated like a 'crazy' person,” she said.

The award winning singer said she believed RTE had only invited her on the show to  talk about her recent search for a male partner, to make her come across as a “crazy performing monkey”.

“The researcher said to me that since I suffer from depression do I not think it’s insane behavior to be talking publicly about sex. While it may be called rude, inappropriate, naughty, silly, adolescent etc to talk rudely about sex, it is outrageous to call it ‘insane’,” she wrote in her blog.

Responding to O’Connor’s remakrks, an RTÉ spokeswoman told TheJournal.ie: “While we never discuss specific negotiations around any of guests who have been invited to appear on the show we would like to stress that it was never our intention to cause Sinead any distress. Sinead has been on the show many times over the years and she is always welcome to the show.”

Sinead is just like the rest of us-she has problems, she has quirks, sometimes she doesn't quite know what she wants. The problem is she is very talented and a public person, and she stands up for what she thinks is right, no matter what anyone else says. She is brave for that. How many of us live our lives that way? It's the harder way to go.
I'm just saying, she made a sensible move to get herself out of the spotlight! Chill, people.
Sinead O’Connor didn't care what anybody thought. That much is obvious. She only cares that people are talking about her.But now people DO think she is crazy and she can't shake it.No one to blame but herself.
she is crazy so get a life
She likes to shock people. She enjoys see people react to her behavior. She does it for the attention. She is no longer important enough to get a reaction from people. Now she is trying to justify shocking behavior. She had her 15min. of fame. She should accept that her time has past, and move on with her life. It happens to all of us.
@ katiemac - OMG, she might be a lesbian. She must be crazy!
Have we not had enough of this fruitcake? A mediocre performer on a good day, pity freak shows have been banned in circuses, there's her niche.
Well, I'm a huge fan of Sinead, I think she is courageous. With that kind of courage, comes much stress, since not many people will be there to support you on controversial issues. As a celebrity, she has suffered much critcism, as well. This has be ongoing for years. Anyone who speaks out to try and defend the disenfranchised, knows what I'm talking about. I can understand her being angry, and feeling misunderstood which may lead to impulsive outbursts. It's perfectly, human. I think she made the right decicision not to go on the program. She had a bad moment, she said some things that were self deprecating. I have to wonder, does she ever go on vacation, and just relax?
is she capable of knowing poor thing
Sinead's antics may not be lunacy or crass commercialism. Perhaps she's just not that bright. After all she can certainly sing, but then she cannot dance. We can only judge her based on her performances.
Alright Sinead (never fight with an Irish woman who has her back up) you are not "crazy". How about "Unique"?
Great decision Sinead! You certainly don't need their show to become what you already are Famous and Loved around the World. Seems like you may a very wise, intelligent, and sane decision to dump that show in their trash bin! Take care Sinead!
Sinead has now become a bore. Everything she does is all about keeping her brand (of idiocy) in the media. If she just sang and kept her mouth closed at other times - she would be still loved by all. And after her most recent outburst (re getting a fella), her meds should be reduced/expanded. And what about her vows of celibacy as a nun?
