Sean Penn’s teenage son was reportedly arrested last week.

16-year-old Hopper, the Irish-American actor’s son with estranged wife Robin Wright Penn, was allegedly taken into custody by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s department after officers visited his high school in Malibu.

Because he is a minor, authorities have not released details as to why he was arrested or if any charges have been made, but Radar Online reports the teenager was busted for drug possession.

The news of Hopper’s reported arrest comes weeks after Hopper’s mother filed for divorce from Penn, citing "irreconcilable differences".

In April, the Oscar winner filed for separation from his wife, but a month later asked California's Marin County Superior Court to dismiss the case claiming it was an "arrogant mistake.”

It was not the first time the couple had announced they were divorcing only to change their minds.

Penn, 49, first filed for divorce in December 2007, but his petition was dismissed. Three days later Robin filed her own paperwork.

However, in April 2008, they made a request to have their divorce petition dismissed as they wanted to give their relationship another chance.
