Saoirse Ronan set to star in Wes Anderson’s “Grand Budapest Hotel” alongside Bill Murray and Owen Wilson
Quirky director and accomplished young Irish actress a good fit
Saoirse Ronan has two qualities that have marked her career to date, her thoughtful performances and her impeccable taste when it comes to selecting scripts and directors.
This week it has been announced that Ronan is teaming up with the Oscar-nominated director Wes Anderson (Moonrise Kingdom) for his next feature The Grand Budapest Hotel.
Ronan has won the coveted role as the female lead opposite a bunch of Anderson regulars that include Bill Murray, Owen Wilson, Adrien Brody, Edward Norton and Jason Schwartzman.
According to IFTN Oscar-nominees Ralph Fiennes, Jeff Goldblum and Jude Law are also set to star in the 1920's-set film, which sees Fiennes play a slightly eccentric concierge at a Hungarian hotel, who undergoes a number of trials and tribulations at his day job.
Filming will begin in Germany early next year, with Moonrise Kingdom producers Scott Rudin and Steven Rales teaming up with Anderson again.
Oscar-nominee and IFTA-winner Ronan will next be seen in Andrew Niccol’s The Host, an alien feature based on the novel by Twilight creator Stephenie Meyer.
Ronan will also star in Irish director Neil Jordan's new vampire thriller Byzantium, scheduled for release later in 2012.
Born in the US and raised in County Carlow, Ronan was recently honoured with the Maureen O’Hara Award at the Kerry Film Festival.
