Ryan Reynolds’ commitment to ‘Green Lantern’ could keep him from ‘Deadpool’
Robert Liefeld, the creature of the “Deadpool” project, has revealed that Ryan Reynolds’ commitments to the “Green Lantern” franchise could keep him from staring in the new Marvel comic character-based film.
Last year, Ryan Reynolds played the Marvel character, Deadpool, in “X-Men Origins: Wolverine” but it seems that his commitments to star as hero, Hal Jordan, in the “Green Lantern” trilogy might put a kibosh on “Deadpool” plans.
Liefeld let the news slip via a series of messages on his Twitter account. He explained that Warner Bros. plans to make two “Green Lantern” movies back to back could prevent 20th Century Fox from going ahead with the “Deadpool” project.
He wrote "Warner Bros just trying to protect their investment…They don’t want Ryan Reynolds playing Deadpool AND Green Lantern. Interesting 2 watch. Bottom line about Deadpool film is that if FOX doesn’t pull the DP film together with Ryan Reynolds between GL films-they should Hari Kari."
He added "Hopefully cool heads prevail and are reminded of Harrison Ford and how he played Indiana Jones and Han Solo simultaneously."
