The British boy band One Direction - made up of Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Niall Horan, Liam Payne and Louis Tomlinson - have been given the honor of having their single being performed on the musical TV drama, following in the footsteps of stars such as Madonna, Britney Spears, Lady Gaga and Queen.
Matthew Morrison, who plays teacher Will Schuester in the show, said: "I've just heard of them, they're really taking over the States. We are covering one of their songs on 'Glee' - 'What Makes You Beautiful'. I need to YouTube it to practise."
The group have become huge stars in the States after starting their tour of the country earlier this year and Matthew believes their song being on 'Glee' will make them even bigger.
He joked: "They've made it now though, they're on 'Glee'
"This will probably help their record sales too."
Since starting their tour, One Direction - who were put together on the UK version of 'The X Factor' in 2010 after each member auditioned as a solo artist - have gone to number one in the US album chart with their debut LP 'Up All Night' and they have been greeted by screaming fans wherever they go.

Ok so I went and checked out some One Direction performances. Aside from looking like Justin Bieber rip offs (which means they all look like they're 12 and have weird haircuts) they are really not very good.

Umm I have never heard of One Direction except the past few days when supposedly Paul McCartney said No, they aren't the next Beatles. I'm in the U.S. and apparently they aren't super well known here outside of a small demograghic? So I have to wonder how well they are known outside the UK at all?

It is good for them for promotional purposes like music sales. It is good having a European band being represented. I frequently view glee to see Damian McGinty my favourite Irish musician.
