Just be aware that (a) the Birr Workhouse was not where Rosie's ancestors left from; it is fifty miles from their area of origin but just happens to be photogenically ruinous! The Murtaghs probably left from Naas Workhouse, now incorporated into the general hospital there; (b) they were not 'sponsored' by the two gentlemen mentioned in the broadcast; the men were members of the governing boars who proposed formally that the Murtaghs be allowed to leave for Canada.
