Derry native Downey produces and stars in new miniseries
Derry native Roma Downey is co-producing and starring in the History Channel’s upcoming miniseries event ‘The Bible.’
According to Mark Burnett (the man behind ‘The Voice’ and ‘Survivor’), the 10 hour film adaptation tells the story of the Bible "from Genesis to Revelation.”
“'The Bible' is going to be seen by millions of people, and it looks like a $100 million feature film,” added Burnett.
Downey, who famously starred in ‘Touched by an Angel,’ said to the Christian Post that "I've loved Jesus all my life. It's a passion project for Mark and myself."
Downey will be starring as Jesus’ mother Mary in the mini-series.
The mini-series will air in one hour segments beginning on March 3rd, concluding on Easter Sunday, March 31st.
