Robert Pattinson: The girly man

Actor couldn't get a date before 'Twilight'

So the 23-year-old Robert Pattinson has admitted he couldn't get a date before “Twilight.”

“Last year I wasn’t even able to get a date and now it seems women have changed their minds about me," he told OK! magazine.

This just proves my point about the British wimp – take the cameras and the makeup off him and he's the king of the girly men.

I mean look at the guy. The big hair belongs on a New Jersey “Sopranos” housewife. The pale skin belongs on a Jane Austen heroine from the 19th century when that look was fashionable and women regularly had attacks of the “vapors” – i.e. they fainted when under stress.

(He does have something in common with the 19th century types – he doesn't wash and neither did they – which is why they wore powdered wigs to disguise the smell.)

Robert has not fainted but he has given the impression of being a pretty boy with little macho strut like a true Hollywood star – think Bogart, Cary Grant, Neeson, Farrell.

No, Robert is never going to be that macho guy. He'd probably look good in pink tights playing Hamlet as a famous English actor once played the Prince of Denmark.

The vampire role suits this kind of paleface shtick because, well, he's supposed to be undead for much of the film – when he's not flying out of trees like one of Tarzan’s monkeys.

But once “Twilight” has passed – and boy we can't wait for that – then Robert is going to have to compete on equal terms with other Hollywood leading actors.

My sense is that he will fail miserably to measure up. I mean the guy admits he couldn't get a date before becoming that “Twilight” freak.

Women won't usually fall for girly men – they won't in Robert's case either. But he would do well as Curly with that mop of hair in a remake of “The Three Stooges.”

It would seem obvious, Buzz, that you have little to no understanding of women! To most women a man that is sensitive and creative does not make him a "girly man". Nor does being humble and honest equate to being a "wimp". Having a sense of humour that is self deprecating is quite charming and much more appealing than a man who beats his chest telling you what a stud he is! Honesty is so much more attractive than bullshit! To me he appears even more beautiful behind that sculpted face of his. Oh, and by the way, Buzz, there has never been a statue erected to honour a critic....
Hey Buzz, why do you even have a job? Your "sense" is so far off the mark, you're laughable. Rob's making a new film with Sean Penn and Reese Withersppon, based on a popular novel and it's a far cry from Twilight. He just keeps getting better roles and more popular while you continue to show your ignorance. Hope your bosses reevaluate your worth soon, cause you're a waste of space.
Who ever made this needs to get a grip have you not got better things to do then slag off AMAZING actors and he has not changed abit since filming "Twilight" seriously you need to sort your life out and Robert has always made jokes about himself and poeple are going to hate him as everyone loves him and people are just jealouse
he's so down-to-earth, humble and good-to-core person.any woman would fall for him.he's the most gorgeous man in hollywood.and it's no wonder guys will hate him for their woman just can't stop admiring him all the time.
he is just sooo humble....not like other actor who act like he is the most handsome whatever. But this uality is reaalllyyyy appealing.Rob..stay grounded...woman like you more..but be aware...man will hate you for that. And irish central is dominated by men. hhmm ring a bell
Another fine young man who knows he's lucky and this article lambastes him. Mr. Pattinson stars in a movie that is suitable for our children without foul language and questionable content.
Robert likes to make jokes and I am sure his comment about "not being able to get a date" was one of his lighthearted jokes. Why wouldn't a woman love to date him. He is witty, easygoing, and very handsome. European men have different ways about them but that does not make him a girly man. Grow up. Let him enjoy his fame- He worked for it and he deserves it. The thing I enjoy most about Rob is his honesty and how humble he is about it all.
Absolutely, absurd. So, he is not a macho, shoot guns and beat up other people kind of man. There are sensitive, shy and humble men that appeal to women also. Why Rob could not get a date before Twilight--how about shy--could it be. Does every man have to be a player to be sexy? Absolutely not. If I saw Rob in a bar pre Twilight I would have approached him--so get a grip Buzz Lightyear!
Okay Buzz, get a grip with your whining about Rob. Its obvious that you have issues that you need to overcome. Rob is a talented and quite beautiful man..
