The writer wasn't even implying that they're better than the Beatles, he was stating the fact that they are now technically bigger than the Beatles because of record sales, but in all seriousness they had extremely similar music anyway so its not really a bad comparison. People try and call the Beatles psychedelic all the time, when in reality they were just easily marketable pop music with a few slightly experimental music when Yoko Ono came to the scene. What I'm saying is that One Direction is the Beatles of this generation, with an identical fan base. I'd imagine that in 50 years, kids and young adults will be listening to One Direction because they see it as good music strictly because they want to impress the older generation. That's why kids like the Beatles.
I've never seen so much rubbish in my life, I'm a waste disposal worker. Go listen to the Beatles over and over and then you'll realise how obtuse you are being. I hope you were told to write an article with this headline and you didn't think of it yourself because that would be an unfortunate reflection on the writer..
I have a hard time with any comparisons to any aspects of the Beatles. particularly in this sense. This is straight pop, which the Beatles are far beyond. Sure for a time they were pop icons of this sort but they developed into something much deeper and meaningful by interpreting rock in an artistic way. Bands like this should be mentioned in context with the Spice Girls but never the Beatles. I know the main reference here is for album sales, but that is fleeting. Great music isn't.
