One Direction looks back on 2012, named MTV’s ‘Artist of the Year’

It’s no doubt that 2012 was the year of the boyband, with Irish-British production One Direction coming out on top.
The lads landed two #1 selling albums, performed at the Olympics and sold out Madison Square Garden in just ten minutes. Not too shabby for the ‘new kids on the block!’
While they (oddly) didn’t score any Grammy nominations, the guys did clearly win in their fans’ hearts when they nabbed two MTV Moonmen at the Video Music Awards for Most Share-Worthy Video for ‘What Makes You Beautiful’ and Best New Artist. They were also named MTV’s ‘Artist of the Year.’
2013 looks to be just as promising for One Direction as they gear up for their world tour beginning in February, the launch for their video for ‘Kiss You’ in just a few days and even - of course - releasing a new perfume in the coming year.
