I think his attitude toward women is eerily displayed in the movie.
Who cares what she says about how nasty he was. He died decades ago, he can't defend himself. Enough! Move on. What philanthropic efforts is Ms. O'Hara doing with her wealth?
Read Maureen's book "Tis Herself", and you'll see how nasty he was.
well said akelly
Just viewed the documentary today in Winterset, Iowa, the birthplace of John Wayne. Very well done. To qoute your artical " “This is a man regarded by lots of people as the greatest filmmaker in America ever." Martin Scorsese, Peter Bogdanovich and Jim Sheridan, interviwed in the film, agree. Directors and actors die, great films live on. I suggest the detractors below view this film. They MAY learn something.
The original movie was not well taken by the Irish of the time. Too many stereotypical points were projected on or about the Irish. Hardly, something that typified Irish life to the world at large.
John Ford died 40 years ago! John Wayne died 30 years ago. Some people are apparently desperate for work.
I was edited, didn't care for him, either
Mother Teresa didn't care for either.
John Ford also disliked byethebay!
